So is it 8 or 8:30.

I'm not fussed either way, if we start at 8:30 getting back by 2 is do-able but we'll have to be set a good pace if we want to fit in some half descent climbs.

8.30 seemed to be more convenient for one or two so

Richmond Gate 8.30AM Good pace, grrrr.

This isn't going to turn into a hammerfest is it? Getting dropped on the first climb is so demoralising for old men like me :)

We should be fine...I will most likely bring up the rear anyway :) While I respect the fact I have the Fray in less than 2 months, I will aim to turn around and be home by 2 anyway :)

Good ride all. 84 miles door to door. I had a bit of 'fun' in the muddy verge on one of the downhills but bike and rider emerged unscathed :D
Wilf decided he didn't need his Garmin in deepest Surrey. This led to the discovery of a brilliant new hill/river bed - we will be going back there  (if we can find it  )
Mig's a bit handy up the hills
Best of luck with the Fred tomorrow chaps!

Yes it was a good ride. I made it just under 70 miles back to my car and believe it or not, Sawyers Hill was actually quite enjoyable considering I had 65+ miles in my legs :-)

I actually sprinted up the last gradient, it didn't half hurt :-) great ride today, thanks very much. I will keep an eye on things in this forum for the next ride.

Yep good workout yesterday by all.

    For the record went up:

    - Staple Lane
    - Hound House Hill (Although I always call it Hound Dog)
    - Radnore
    - Leith Hill via Tanhurst Lane (Great little 12% all the way to the top)
    - Box Hill

A couple of the climbs I kept it in the top chain ring to try and work a bit harder to fast track my progress for Fray Bentos.

I was still a bit leg weary from last week and my hamstrings mustn't have liked it by the time I got to Box Hill because I was getting some really painful hamstring twinges at the base of the climb . :? Still somehow managed to beat my PB by 3 seconds.

My only regret was not seeing Al take a tumble as he flew round the bend going down Shere Rd. The cyclist coming up the other way gave it a 10 out of 10 for both technical difficulty and artistic impression. :P

Also apologies for getting us going the wrong way on the way back into Kingston.

Well can confirm that the two RPCC representatives both succeeded in safely completing the Fred Whitton.

Phips in s scintilating 7:32 and Rich in a very respectable 8:27.

Well done lads, bet your both glad its over.

I expect your both fast asleep now, but look forward to the run down of events once you've re-couperated.
