I'm up for the ride this weekend. I'm not working so can do both days provided I don't kill myself on the first day :-) Is the start/meet time still 9am or has it been brought forward?

Are you sure it's not just you Rich? You know how it is, one gets older - the aches and pains set in...

What kind of turnout do you get on these rides?

Rich - Indy Fab Ti Crown Jewel 8) Smoothest set of wheels I've ever had the pleasure of riding. Mosquito bikes do these.

Berns - Like you I'm still umming and arring over an upgrade, but I think this aided by the fear of the Fray Bentos :?

9am would suit me best if you're happy we can get back in time for the match (super 14s :?: ). If not, 8.30am compromise.

Thanks Art, I'll be travelling in from west Drayton but I work in Richmond. When will the start time be confirmed?

    Lol, cheeky bugger...! :wink::lol:

My saddle to bar drop was noted at my last fitting as being on the 'extreme' side of normal! :?

Yes I have noticed you have your seatpost rather high. I have same problem even with a 62cm frame, 20cm head tube and spacers. Makes for scary descents aswell.

Wouldn't imagine you should have many problems if you got a 58cm frame.....but then again as Dave mentioned, none of us are getting any younger :P

No can't say I've met the Big Mig before. Is he on this forum at all?

I have been looking at the profile every day...the only solace I can find is that half of it is downhill!

Saddle height is perfect for my legs - just puts the front end too low :?

Saddle Height perfect but there's a lot of seat post showing.

    Reckon you need a 58cm.

When you went to Sigma for sizing what were you given? I went there to get sized up and got an exacting profile of what my frame should be, even got one for relaxed and one for racing.

Did you get anything like that?

Nope, nothing - that's why I'm going to Bespoke. The Sigma fit was a gift so it didn't cost me, but I'm extremely disappointed all the same. Although in their defence I never followed up on it or requested anything in terms of actual paper-based output from them.

The Retul fit is more accurate anyway, and I think Barry will be less dismissive of my freaky pedals!

    Welcome aboard! 8)

And in Sigma's defence (again) I wasn't a Wheeler then, and they'd only just been announced as the new sponsor I think.

It's all experience, and I'll end up on the right bike eventually!

Morning chaps! (well its morning here anyway).

I am enjoying the tropics here in Aus - sunshine, rain, warm, windy. New wheels are very very fast - and significantly lighter than my old ones, so climb better and they really fly along. Annoyingly they did go way out of true on the second ride, but they were basically brand new so I half expected that as the spokes and nipples settled.

Anyway, I did my first attempt on the Copperlode run (which I am very jealous of my Brother-in-Law as its only 5 minutes up the road from his house).
    http://bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=47709

First attempt was yesterday, 638 metres climbing, 500 ascent in 27:30 which I am really happy with (the only thing is that I managed 6.53 up Box Hill which at less than a quarter of the height gained up Copperlode took me over a quarter of the time that Copperlode took me......

A good shout Al, and a possible option... although both that and the Moots are more than I ever had any intention of spending! Maybe I should stick with Sabbath or Enigma! :?

Nah he is not on the forum. I have tried to get him to come along, but he has failed to send me his email so I can forward him the link. I have his number but he he is keen on coming along...and he can climb!

Quick roll call for this Saturday. Looks like we're 7 at the moment:
Berns, London Red, RC21, Wilf, jrduquemin, Mysterious Mig and me.

It'll be a shorter ride, about 4-5hrs, with Box Hill a likely destination.

Shall we do an 8am start
Need to practice early starts for next Sunday

    Happy Friday boys and girls,

Early start works well with me! Although Wilf would probably prefer the 6 am starts he has been crying out for :)

Once we have the time all agreed I will text Mysterious Mig. Also as a compromise for those wanting a later start, I am happy for something in between like 8.30

An 8:30 start would be ideal for me also, I need to travel in from West Drayton to Richmond beforehand.

As I'm now getting pains again I'm going to Barry @ Bespoke for a second opinion (with much more detailed feedback).

do you work out other than on the bike? you guys put in long hard hours and without working on core strength and flexibility, lower back - shoulder paIn is a probable consequence. i do pilates and stretch as much as possible. that and switching to speedplay pedals has really helped me feel comfortable on the bike, even after 8 hours - thats with a position that allows for horizontal back when on the drops.
    good luck :)

May join you tomorrow, but don't wait for me

If not will probably be out Sunday perhaps for a flatter route out towards Windsor and back if anyone would be interested in that?

And good luck to everyone doing Fred - hope to hear some epic tales...

I notice RPCC will be represented across the UK this coming weekend. The usual Surrey rides, Rich up in the Lake district and me and Urrrs riding in Wales. Now we just need a couple of people to venture abroad....

I plan on being hungover tomorrow morning (and Sunday morning for that matter) so won't commit to anything this weekend. If I'm there great, if not don't wake me :?

Good luck also to the Fred-ers!
It's the vibe of the thing.
