Well I'm scared of you as well! Just seen your 54min 3 lap time for RP, solid work! I really should make an effort to lay down a 3 lap time but it would involve riding 32 miles. All I ever seem to do at the moment is 20 or 70+ and nothing in between!

The first time I did Richmond park I did 1 lap in 45mins+ I got so bored and annoyed at myself I paused my stop watch before I got to the end.

Definitely a ride* before food and beer. I think I'd vomit going up either Broomfield or Dark Hill after any sort of substantial meal plus beer.

Sorry, got active recovery in the plan for that day. Look how that worked out ;)

Three lap challenge? Who said anything about that?

Indeed! I believe I said 'a couple of laps'...

Oh how naive of you LiT  , you get together a band of the best scalpers SCR has ever seen and expect them to have a leisurely couple of laps when the three lap challenge is there for the taking and reputations are at stake

Blood will be spilled in the ensuing testosterone fuelled frenzy
Nah, I'm thinking more group of favourites in L-B-L yesterday after Schleck the younger p!ssed off up the road: 'After you', 'No, after you', 'But I insist'... after several miles of this nothing has happened... then a sprint to the cafe at roehampton gate

If the Rendezvous is to be the Prince's Head, an option would be to avoid the park and run an impromptu criterium race around the Green. Nice tight corners for carnage and it would give the residents something to moan about 8)

Guys - Is it possible to do it fixed wheel?! Any lairy ascents?

I will be in training for Exmouth Exodus and will have completed 2 x 70.3's by then - may be too kncakered to "race" - depends on the weekend- but would want to train on the fixie (build some stamina!) and have a laugh!

none of the hills are that steep or long so yes, i certinaly see a few fast fixies when i go around.
  • RP outing sounds very jolly.................

Early to mid July would be good, the end of July would collide with summer holidays starting otherwise.

I guess its time to put a few dates up and let the masses decide.

Another name form Yokel town, Sarajoy wants to come and play too, again dependant on the date.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

If it's one of those weekends when I'm not going to be elsewhere, I'd be up for it. I'm not going to be breaking any records around the park, I'll be far too busy worrying about silly things like "traffic" and "pedestrians". I don't see much of them. :)

Count me in if I'm not cycling round Scotland - maybe DDD could bring his M2 and we could have a faceoff - bear in mind I am old but sneaky 8)

I'll almost definitely be there. Unless I've got something better to do on that particular weekend, which hopefully won't be the case.

Maybe we could have lunch followed by an SCR RP Challenge - 3 laps perhaps - with a handicap system based on the number of pints consumed. 1 pint = 1 minute deducted from the recorded lap time.

I dunno about this handicapping system, sounds like a good idea and I reckon it could be fun to see ITB post a 10 minutes time once we account for his handicap :-D

I'd certainly be interested, July is best for me as I have the Capital to Coast in June........and it also allows me plenty of time to get my day pass sorted!

I'm a hmmm/under the thumb, it'd be nice to ride with other people for a change, but I doubt I'd be able to get a pass for a day.

Know what you mean. However, my wife's going to a Take That concert on my birthday no less, so I'll be due a pass. Any way you can build the brownie points or bring the OH with you?

That's not a bad idea, perhaps I'll bring the missus, after all she is a cyclist now, although she doesn't SCR, yet...

Sounds good....The Roebuck would be the place to go, lovely views and we could gather on the terrace.

I think LIT should set just set a date and get it in peoples diaries...

Just looked at the Roebuck on t'interweb, is there space there to park 20-odd bikes? Would they let us bring the bikes onto the terrace?

The terrace is not owned by the pub and is actually a public path/bridle way type thing that is across the road from the pub. Someone else mentioned the pub earlier but not by name. There are benches to sit on and a long wall which the punters from the pub go and sit on. If the weather is good its absolutely stunning and its free house so decent beer. We might also spot Mick Jagger and Pete Townsend.

We would have to lock bikes together and lean them against the wall though.

    I just found Streetview useful!

If you use TW10 6RN on streetview and pan around you will see the terrace. There are railings actually. Fair weather venue...
