Cheers for that info, sounds promising - i'm getting a visit from the doctor later and i'll try and push for a free physio session, if they don't mention it. :)

It feels like it could be tendons/ligaments because there's no bruising and it feels like the pain is where the hamstring meets the gluteus maximus muscle...

The pain radically dropped over the past few days though, so I reckon it could just be minor damage.

Had 400g of protein every day!  Loads of fruit and veg, as well as about 5 litres of water.

Without going into too much detail in the toilet dept, my body is actually absorbing a lot of it and I can tell I really need it.

Have you been taking an anti inflammatory like diclofenac? That's a big help with both pain and the inflamation.

Get some lactulose too. You'll thank me I promise...

Watch the protein though, that amount is ridiculously bad for your liver...

The insane amount of fish/fruit i've been eating is very anti-inflammatory...

Cutting down on the protein today though, I don't think a small spike should do any damage to my liver... :)

There's nothing I can say to that. Except I beg to differ...

    I really do.

The amount your eating is clearly too much for your body to process properly. You can have an anti-inflammatory diet but the quantities you are eating will cause worse digestive problems than anything else...

Keep eating what you are eating but for heaven's sake, cut down a bit. Ever heard the phrase too much of a good thing?

    I've noticed no problems... :D

    Digestion has felt fine!

Is there any significance to the fact that most of the protein came from yoghurt/protein shakes? They seem easier to digest than the 150g of fish/chicken i've been having...

Then carry on if you feel fine.

The recommended amount of protein when I was into weight lifting / kung fu was 1g of protein per kilo of lean body mass. It looks like you are regularly having twice that amount. But hey... You crack on.

My crash was last Thursday and it was bad, around 35km/h into a drain, over the bars and sprawled over the road. Sprint at the end of a race, I was over the line (second :)) and slowing, head was fried from the sprint and I sort of drifted and didn't see the drain.

Friday morning I couldn't walk and I was wondering if I would be off the bike for weeks.

Went to the physio. Had to get a taxi. Got prodded, massaged, range of movement checked out etc. Like Jeff Jones, muscles in spasm, it was actually the side other than the bruised side I had landed on that was more of the problem. Outside chance of fractured pelvis, sent home with exercise programme and instructions to go to A&E for X-Rays if it got worse over the weekend.

Saturday/Sunday, off the bike, doing the exercises every few hours and every other few hours lying on my bed with a bag of ice on my arse. Nurofen for the inflammation. Getting a lot better.

Monday back into work, bit of a short recovery cycle that evening.

Tuesday evening did my first crit, and was very happy with how I was performing physically. Hung on for 6 of 8 laps, at the front for the first 4 but dropped back as I found it just too scary. Felt good physically finishing.

Honestly treatment helps a lot, going to a physio and following their instructions (important that bit :)) will speed up your recovery. The sooner you go the better.
