How long do tyres last then? I've only ever changed one tyre... I could see the fabric where it met the rim.
  • Only punctures I've had have been due to keeping the tyres for far too long. Went on tour with balding tyres during the summer. On reaching Navarra in northern Spain I suffered 5 in the space of 10mins. Tyres were like cigarette paper.

    None since.

    Spesh Armadilloes. Hell yeah!!
  • P.S. LiT that tifosi bike is beautiful.

    Chapeau.

The March one was the last straw - I now run slime-filled tubes and have swapped the front tyre (all the hits have been the front) for a Bontrager kevlar-lined thingy (LBS is a Trek dealer - can you tell?). No further visits since...

2007: 1, not sure how it happened, must've picked up a slow puncture in the morning and by the time I went to ride home in the evening it was flat

2008: 1 actual puncture, pinch flat after smacking a curb (ooops). Lost tubes in other stupid ways.

    2009: none so far!

    B*strds!

I suppose I only have my self to blame for bragging, but sure enough, got one on the way in today. To compound matters, the rest of the way (bout 19 miles) felt really tough going. a few mph down on normal and grinding away, sweating buckets. Got to work and found that the brake was rubbing on the wheel I fixed. I'm amazed it made such a diference, and also amazed that I didn't sus it out at the time.

I have more wheel failures than punctures.

PS - If I get one on the way home tonight, I'm gonna personally find you and slap you for starting this voodoo.

I too would like to give ITB a bit of a slap. Got all kitted up this morning and, on the way out the door I thought I'd check my tyre pressure so I didn't get a pinch p*ncture on the way in. Naturally my rear tyre was as flat as a pancake. Where's the 'slap' emoticon when you need it?!

    So far this year
1 back tyre exploded down a unlit country lane :x
and 2 other puntures so far this year.
usaly get a spate of them when tyres are getting worn out.
Done 5000+ and just on my 3rd back tyre.
Get very few on the front.
Get most when using cycle track on the way to Southport.

None, but I've not been out much on my road bike and MTB this year. Really can't remember the last time I got a flat on my commuter- and before anyone asks I have Bontrager Select Invert (I think) tyres :)

Apart from my rear tyre disintegrating (and hence suffering from a "catastrophic loss of pressure") on my last tour, zero in the last 3000km.

    *caresses the table*

Actually, that is a lie my road bike punctured in the autumn.

On the commuter /crappy weather bike since I put marathon plus on it about a year ago, zero punctures. Marathon plus might have the comfort level of army boots and weigh approx half a metric tonne each but they do seem fairly effective vs the PF

The time I broke a couple of spokes on the commute bike though, it took 4 attempts to get a tyre on with a working inner tube back on it. I kept flatting the inner tube with the tyre levers that are necessary to mount these beasts.

On the audax bike, two last year on an old set of conti 4 seasons. None so far this year on pararacer pasellas

My back tyre looks in bad shape and i am blaming it for recent puncture fest - is it worth swapping the front and back around to prolong life, or just man up and buy a new one?

    Mileage: ~ 1100 miles.

Latest puncture included the beading on the tire goving way, may have been a manufacturing fault, or I had fitted it badly!

had my very first one ever! big silver screw in some unavoidable debris! swiftly followed by number 2, the next evening! the new inner tube exploded! had a big gash in it. seems the tyre was damaged when prising it off from the first one.The tyres that came with the Specialised Dolce are a bit rubbish! looking to get some decent ones

2 more this weekend taking the total this year to 19

These two are the best so far, one on the beast which hasn't been ridden or even moved in over a 2 weeks & the other on my tourer which has been hanging on the wall for 2 weeks or so.

    odd!
