Martin, a lot of us are off to Wales this weekend, there might be some around.

10:30am next Sunday 6th June will likely be the next ride.

    Martin,

Welcome to one of the best areas for MTB'ing in the Uk in my opinion!

There are regular rides around both the Wyre forest and Clent, that get posted on here and the Wyre forest MTB trails facebook group!

Details tend to come with the Ride, we mostly meet at the visitors centre on Callow hill, with parking at the Duke william pub, the Vc (pay and display) or a layby on the turning opposite-ish the VC entrance.

Theres a camping weekend this weekend and other people inc myself are away.

I may go over the wyre for a quick 10miler friday night! Before my hectic 3 day weekend starts.

Would be good to know when your available so we know, im a 9-5'er mon to friday so its evenings and weekends for me, but a few member are self employed or have very lenient employers oh and shifts (mick) so can get out in the week!

    Anything i havent answered?

Im sure there will be plenty of rides over the hopefully dry next few months.

I used to be able to Slack and get out in the week :( Not recently though :(

My recent puncture attack seems to be the Threads in the tyre sticking through, found 4 sharp bits just, very small nothing going through the tyre, won't be risking this in Wales.

On the plus side my 26" DH wheel from the rigid with that HUGE Tyre fits nicely I'll use that for the Welsh weekend :)

    Fun Fun Fun!!

    Hi Martin,

I work from home quite a lot, so I am very flexible during the week if you cant make weekends, just give me a shout....short notice is ok too as I live next door to the Wyre Forest :-)

The Sunday morning group is a good place to start. Most Sundays 10.30 at the Duke William pub car park.

Just one thing - the condition for parking at the Duke William for free is that we go in for a drink after the ride. The landlord is doing us a favour for letting us park there so we all really ought to make the effort and go in for a drink at least once or twice a month. We appear to be abusing this favour.

As the group is beginning to grow in numbers, it's the ideal spot to park but as the night rides finish late and then we have to all travel home, maybe we ought to think about parking elsewhere for a night ride ie Buttonoak?

Anyone else with a conscience agree with me?

MP, I dropped in last night on my own but better than nothing the Sunday groups have been drinking and more importantly eating there ( he makes money from the eating side, pennys on drink ), he doesn't mind us as long as we sometimes stop in.

BUT...... it's a mute point he's got 1 - 2 weeks before closing shop and going bankrupt unless the brewery give him a better deal on drink costs which is unlikely.

But Dylan we only tend to have soft drinks which im sure are 15p a can at cost while he charges £1 a can! So he makes £1.70 off me every week! Its only when crap happens like a mechanical and we get back late that i dont go in!

I tried explaining he makes more on Coke than beer but he'd still prefer to sell more expensive but less profit beer he's not that bright.

He buys the Cans from down the road so 60p so +40p profit.

I asked him, he's fine if we don't always drop in for a drink as long as we drop in occasionally and I guess his car park isn't full which it never is, so it's all fine.

2weeks tops and gone, hope they don't put a chain across the entrance or something.

I agree, if you park up, you should pop in and have drink, its only fair...after all he is a decent chap.

(I was guilty of not popping in this week, BUT that was the first time I have ever taken my car there and I only live 1 mile down the road ;-(

He understands you can't always and he realises using the car park and dropping in occasionally is better than never.

So don't stress over it to much, but yes do try to use the services when you can as we already do.

Dyl - If his wife wasn't such a miserable scroat  and he didn't swear whilst serving customers  then maybe he may be in business a little longer. MP - you are correct though its not there to be abused.

Something to think about I have just purchased a twelve month discovery pass & the benifits of this are free parking on both Cannock and the Wyre, 20% off go Ape should I wish to go screaming through the tree tops dangled from a piece of rope but more importantly for me its supports those Guy & Gals who build the trails and maintain the forest standards. :)

Blurt over here’s to the weekend

Yeah that would help, but catch 22 she's miserable likely because of the situation he drove a lot away complaining with a don't care about your problems attitude himself also.

How much for the discovery pass ??

The weekend is nearly there, sadly working Friday and currently, but Bikes ready in Trail Mode, tent and everything else is purchased including 1000's of jelly babies. :)

Hi all, anyone about on 26th June?

Me and a couple of others from Worcester are hoping to pop over for ride and I'd be grateful for guidance, last over there 5 years ago, so I'm bound to get lost.

    Cheers.

BTW, the reason pubs / landlords charge as much if not more for soft drinks than booze is they sell less of it but still have the glasses to clean. Little old ladies can make half a lime and lemon last 2 hours!!

I make up for it in other ways Tony :)

26th June is Ages away, Saturday I don't generally ride Saturdays but we'll see.

Oh don't go there Dyl ... whatever the weather I am sure we will have a good time. Did hear the same though. Not looking now see what we wake up to.

May be OK for the 26th June. Got a feeling that may be the ride that Cheshley is holding on the Long Mynd anyway see nearer the time.

Think I will be packing my over-trousers for tomorrow and possibly me Speedo’s for Sunday & Monday  oh that still leavs two more other days (inside out back to front ect) before they need washing lets hope Tuesday and Wednessday are also sunny. 8)

Doesn't bother me I'm a all weather kinda guy, only got 1 set of trousers so it's a pain kit wise, wet trousers in the morning is never nice, unless its shorts weather hopefully Sunday.

Roger will likely want to ride at 8am if I know him, if so might be able to squeeze it in.

See you in the am dude, I've got the Duct Tape so we can have some peace and quite from the constant cackling that from the OLD Ladies.
