    see you near visitors centre.........

  • How were peoples rides today then?
i got to dixons hollow for about 10 and did the black route up to the viewpoint then followed the red route to the DH and had a mess around there for a bit, then headed back down the forest and hit the end of the red route for about 2 miles to low Dalby. Had a fantastic ride and due to my bike bieng finaly trouble free i managed a ride without the gears or brakes failing on me! :D
May not sound like a huge ride but my fitness is terrible at the moment and im having knee trouble again :(
    How about you lot?

4 of us in total. We did around 16.5 miles. I kept getting left behind  My fitness is also down a bit after Christmas endulgences and my hard tail slows me down. (Thats the excuse I'm sticking to anyway). Didnt realise how much more speed you can carry through on a full suss. Enjoyed it though, and good to meet new people.... Thanks guys for waiting for me :)

Aye, it was a good ride. Shame that in some sections twas bit boggy, but cant complain too much at this time of year I suppose. You didn't do to bad though, since you aint done much from beginning of December, a few more miles under your belt ( and a full suss.... ) should help you out. Was good to see a new face, talking to my bro on way back, maybe thinking of doing something round Ladybower next weekend if your up for it. Have to do an easy one for Loz though.....

Do you get out during midweek then Dave? I try to do at least a small ride midweek, I tend to do the bank of River Hull, helps abit. Seems good training riding over the grass...

Just remember our kid is the ugly one :o
  • I was also at Dalby today, mainly did the black route. Quiet wet in places, esp on some of the more techy downhills. Managed to get around in one piece though.

no worries mate, like we said,we dont leave anyone behind,we all have diff fitness and how we can ride, got to remember,me and giggsmaster ride dalby a lot, during daylight and at night,so we know it well mate

i had a hardtail upto 5 months ago,so i know what its like to ride one mate(still got hardtail,a good 6 years old now),i found i was better on the climbs, and slow on the downhills, youve just got to get youre confidence up as well mate riding a hardtail, got to find how far you can push it,dont matter if you come off, thats all part of the fun of it,we have both come off a few times,it hurts to begin with, but you get up and laugh about it after,as they say>no pain,no gain, lol

so dont worry about being last one up or down mate, like you said, you aint been out for a while, and me and bro have been riding nearlly every week for last 7 months,so we are a bit fit,we will just have to try not to stop as much, for a chat, lol

so dont be put off mate, hopefully next time there might be a couple more of us as well......try to get out during the week if you can, even if its just a road ride to get youre fitness up a bit..............it was good to have someone else with us,and we look 4ward to next ride with you, will try to find something a bit closer to you........

If i can get a pass out from the missus  then distance shouldnt be too much of an issue. Having a company car and not paying for private mileage has its advantages!!

we did red route to dixons hollow, then went on road and re joined red route near the raised part that goes through the woods and the bomb holes,we cut off the back part of red route as it was busy and it was a bit muddy mate, think we are going to give dalby a miss for a few weeks cause it is un rideable in parts due to the frost and wet weather weve had.......

if youre up for any othe rides mate youre more then welcome to join us,think we are going sunday, dont know where yet,got to get in touch with my bro......where abouts are you in gods county mate??????

Hi guys myself and a friend go most Sundays, leave Hull at 8am.

We have room for 2 more people in the car if people fancy sharing petrol costs?
Your bikes would go in the back of the car, just as long as you have quick release! :D

My car is nice and comfortable Mitsubishi Shogun, with climate control for the after-ride warm up!

Feel free to text me on:

now then mate,me and giggsmaster go to dalby in giggsmasters company car,we both live in hull,we normally leave about 7-30am if we are going up there, last time we went it was a bit boggy and not all that good to ride,so we are looking at giving it a miss for a few weeks,or until the ground has been frozen so its a bit better to ride.....

do you go up on dales or to peaks at all?????

Hi, I was there on Sunday (just gone) and it was quite boggy on the tops of the red run, but quite useable!

    Never been to the dales!

Just trying to get more people to go, to cut costs..........
