    Lose about 1 1/2 stone
    Complete Northern Cyclone
    Get fitter in general
  • Loose weight (in the region of 2 1/2stone)

Ride 1) Cheshire Cat (62 miler)
    2) Dave lloyd midi challenge (100 miler)
    3) Another couple of longer distance sportives yet to be identified and entered.

Might be nice to do some regular TT's and see improvments in times during the year. Starting with a sub 29 minute 10 would be a good start!!
  • Already on the way to completing one of them, just signed up for the Northern Cyclone, only the 62 Miles one as it's my first :P

Enjoy riding, get fitter and try some new things like: TT's & road races proberly shorter TT's & Circuit races to start with aswell as a handful of sportives, ive already entered 3 in March (Mad March Hare sportive, Epic spring challenge, Chesire Cat 102 mile route).
  • Get my fitness back (winter took it all away from me, because im a wuss in the cold), and next winter dont chicken out (its my first season, so hopefully do better next time)
    Jamie
  • To carry on from last season, hopefully improving in the process...I was lucy enough to achieve 3 of the 4 targets I set myself for last season, and also to ride my first sportive, which wasnt on the plans at all at the start of last season.
Main objecive this year is to become a better rider and hopefully a be more competitive
  • and yes i did mean to say LUCKY enough not LUCY enough

Mostly TT-specific goals, in no particular order:

    1) Get faster (better position + fitness)
    2) Win more races
    3) Do the Beacon RC Little Mountain TT (aiming for top 3)
    4) Do more national championships (British TT champs, national 10, 25 + maybe the 50)
    5) Do the Dave Lloyd Mega Challenge again
    6) Do a Premier Calendar road race
    7) Sub 20 min 10
    8) Break club 100 record (3:45.xx)
    9) Successfully defend at least one of my journo world titles
    10) Stay illness and injury free (a repeat of 2008 would be nice)

I can think of more, but that's enough.

I'll share your first 3 targets with you if you don't mind, Jeff. Except that my aim is to successfully organise the Beacon Little Mountain TT instead of ride it. I'm looking forward to seeing you on the podium - hopefully we'll have an even higher number of elite riders this year. I spoke to Matt Bottrill on Saturday and he's up for coming back to defend the title. 8)

Do the bike leg of an olympic tri (25miles) in less than 1:05
  • I've got a climb that I use as a gauge of my form. It's a good climb because it's tucked away in a little mountain gap so wind conditions don't affect the time. I'm wanting to break 6 minutes 30. I've got a long way to go! :)

I'd love to achieve Gold Standard in a hilly Sportive. Missed out by 7 minutes last year on the Rydale Rumble and Fred Whitton (OK no afficial gold on that but under 8.00 is good , I did 8.07 ). Booked into doing the Richmond 5 dales so here's hoping.

Winter training going well on the rollers so it isn't unachievable and it would be one hell of a 50th birthday prezzie. Just wish I'd started 30 years ago .

Relatively new to more serious riding and my challenges so far for 2009 include my first Sportive ride in June (Dragon Wales), followed by one of the French Alps climbs in July. Most likely Cole Du Columbiere.

Try to hit the targets I missed last year
    average 100 miles a month
at least 1000 miles before the end of the year ideally more. Only managed about 750 last year.
Complete a metric ton. L2B is still one of my longest runs
    Complete an imperial ton

Will get back to you later in the year as how weel I am doing. First 2 months were not good Jan 40 miles, Feb 60.
Still haven't managed the 100 miles a month
March was 84 and April 99
