SCR of the year 2008

  • When I first discovered the SCR thread it was the humour that pulled me in originally, but since engaging in SCR (blatant admission of breaking rule of no race club) I have lost over half a stone and it is going to carry on. I also have done my first 5 day commute (24 mile a day).

Where I am going with this.....?

My mindset is that I just want to get much fitter and faster. I have decided to take a purist stance on this and thus go for Greg66. It would be nice to get to the point where I don't need to worry too much about competion, just go for them. TripleD gave him a quality write up and as I have yet to meet the chap I will take DDD's words for it.

gb155 gets a memorable writeup - I 've been trying to lose 2 stone for years, not 20 - go for it....................................................

As for the rest of you, thanks for the laughs.

I would like to vote for:
    gb155.
    Thank you.
  • My nominations:

GregT - for wit and being SCR godfather
Greg66 - just for his grand entrance to the thread:
Well, well, well, what do we have here?

It appears to be a little colony of morlocks, chattering to each other in their peculiar language about their interactions with real people.

Tsk, tsk, tsk, morlocks. Giving it chat in an internet thread won't make you a real person.

And for anyone who wants to play: Cervelo, on the Embankment. FCN with adjustments puts me on zero.

No prisoners. No survivors. Let the games begin.

BassJunkie - for his enthusiasm and dogged determination to keep thread on track with scalp postings

    And for old time's sake:

victor ludorum - where is he now?

Right apparently that's not on  so LiT get's my vote, run close by the 2 Gregs and BJunkie though. Others lose points through poor attendance of Friday drinks and inability to effectively MTFU.

Actually I reckon we should have categories (in the namby pamby "inclusive" manner so beloved by Nu Labour).

    Good idea.

Shall we leave this thread for the 'overall' award, and start another for categories?

HMM, now that sounds like fun - although I think we could do Queen of the Embankment too, which could go hand in hand with Best Dressed :-) Now where are my strong shade of orange tinted glasses.......I think we might need to petition for a SCR sub category on the Commuting forum soon ;-)

Also like to say a big thanks for all those that have mentioned me :-) Much appreciated!

I'm all for the categories. I think they'll be fun. To be honest I'd still like to see "biggest SCR thighs". Then next year, measure them to see if they've grown....

The categories pick themselves really, with some categories opened up for debate:

    Funniest Poster: Gerg T

    Best Advice: Attica/Littagator/CJCP

    Most Random Poster: DDD

    Best Storyteller: DDD/Greg T/ Bassjunkie/Greg 66

King/Queeny girls, but I don't think any of us ride there) of the Embankment: Greg66 (for both awards King for gender, Queen for dress sense)

    Most Improved Cyclist: DDD

Most Coveted Bike: Donovan... no seriously The Prince - Jashburnham, we all really cared when it was touch and go during his operation, I was on the edge of my seat.

Best SCR with a one mile commute: Jen J

Seriously though I'm all for the awards.

You both need to MTFU and find a longer route
Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.
Rule #9 // If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.

I usually do an extra, wait for it, *two* miles on the way home.

But sometimes it's just too much for me to cope with and I take the direct route...

    WOMBLE TILL I DIE

Which reminds me! This morning I saw a very strange motorbike, of sorts, on the Fulham Road. It was this thing:

    20070220-carver-one-side.jpg

and it had three wheels, which remained in contact with the road, but the body of the bike/car itself bent over to the side like a motorbike as it cornered! Crazy!

And, the reason I mention it is because it had an AFC Wimbledon sticker in its back window :)

    YOU DONS!

  • Those motorbike things are SO COOL.

On the website of the company that makes them there are several videos which I don't doubt are also on the youtube...

I just wonder if they're exempt from the C-Charge.
