How to deal with moron chavs

I have been in both situations following crap driving One where i lost my cool and ended up having a "handbags and fisticuffs situation " and the other where i keep my cool told the driver how bloody dangerous his driving had been, explained what he should have done " his response was that he thought about it apologised and we left shaking hands Whilst Mr macho awarded me extra points in the first instance realistically the second outcome was more benifical , particularly for MY stress levels0

There are few situations so bad that you can't make them worse by losing your temper.
However, reacting to a life-threatening bit of dangerous driving is one thing, reacting to a deliberate assault is another.
Bb would have gained nothing by attempting to reason with the can chucker, and probably done no better if he'd dropped in at the police station, wearing lycra and with bright red hair, complaining that a passenger in a car had thrown a can at him. How helpful do you think the desk sergeant would have been?
Catching up with the car and smacking the git in the gob was the ideal response. This post contains traces of nuts.0 -

I would have thought that making a false claim about a shooting would be taken more seriously than punching some cormorant in the face, who had just thrown a can at you.
Obviously we can't go around smacking heads every time we feel like it.....but i firmly believe that bullies should be stood up to. Like many of the anecdotes here, it seems that even inviting them to have a chat seems to get them to run away most of the time.
The chap you know who was the major, may not feel as threatened as the majority of folks (given the experience you suggest), thus giving him a perspective different to most of us. And I would wager that if it came to the nitty gritty, he would finish it with righteous efficiency.
I think what he had is usually called perspective, which is sadly lacking in many in todays society.
Oh shit, starting to sound like Osacr Wilde/an old git!'Twas Mulga Bill, from Eaglehawk, that caught the cycling craze....0 -
Worst incident I've had is a NED moped rider trying to barge me off my bike. I should've taken his registration number, but instead I chased him all the way to the next traffic lights, pulled up along aside and quietly asked him if he'd like to let his mates pull away, and step off his bike, so we could find out just how clever he really was. He hesitated then apologised for being an idiot and that he didn't mean any harm, before hastilly riding off.
I may have got away with it as I am quite heavily built and had just left the gym, but I was also mad. It's worth remembering if you lash out in self-defense you may get away with it, but if you chase and retaliate and someone complains about you - the old bill will take a very dim view. Also, if it all goes wrong, remember a fit person (or persons) on foot will out accelerate a bike for at least 40-50 meters!
Finally, an acquaintance of mine carries a long steel bolt in his pocket, and if actual deliberate contact is made with him, the offending car loses a side window... Wouldn't do it myself but I can see why he might get mad enough...0 -

Is this BikeRadar's obscenity filter at work, or is there something you haven't owned up to the RSPB about?

punishments need to be a deterant from people commiting the crimes and they are not its a joke. some prisons are nicer than my home, they get free living while in the clink as well as acsess to free job training.
i want to be a gas engineer and the training for that is going to be anything up to 4k but if i was to go beat up an old lady and pinch her pension i would get free living for 12months and then the free training ohhhhh and once i was out i would be slef employed and on twice the wage im on now...... yep i can see why crime does not pay.... /rant
True. I'm currently serving in the hell hole that is Afghanistan, and one of the blokes, who went to prison for ABH, served his term and is now out in the FOBs with us. He reckons he'd rather be back in prison! There he had aircon, a soft bed, Playstation, fresh food, clean water etc etc.
Prison is no deterrant these days, and hell, if you 'behave', you only end up serving a fraction of your sentence.
We need tougher sentences and less leeway. Prisons full? Build more. Criminals should be ostracised for their actions, as they obviously don't want to play by the rules.FCN 10 -
I could have easily ended up in a fisticuffs with a chav on a moped last night... I came off a roundabout at about 23 mph onto a 4 lane wide road - chav from right hand sees a gap and pulls onto the road - crosses 4 lanes and almost squeezes me out - he could have pulled into the outer lane, not the inner one.
Anyway, I'm along side him and passing him - just told him to 'watch it - look where you are going' He replies 'I did you f'ing knob' - we then pull up at some red lights... I said "you were this close" - showing him a 12 inch gap with my hands.
Off he then goes f'ing and jeffing - "surprised you can see with those goggles" (I wear sports specs).... so I think....have a go, or ignore - all 8 stone of spotty yoof....
I just ignored him, then, as he pulled away at the next change, he shouts something and beeps his poor excuse for a horn - thought about chasing him down, but he turned off into a rough estate - I just did the death stare...
It's a tricky one - you never know what they might be carrying - I've got responsibilities, he hasn't, and most likey wouldn't give a second thought to have a fight with a 12 stone fit fella. He was obviously up for a fight be his responses, had he been a bit more decent, then he might have appologised....grrrrr
I felt like I'd let the little sh1t get away with it - next time I might give one of them a shove if they get too close - god I hate mopeds.
Yesterday I was on the MTB, today it's the roadie - gonna look for a victim and burn their arse off today ! grrr...Rant over !0 -
You should have followed them to the next set of traffic lights and done it again, and again at the next set, all the ay home._________________________________________________________________________________________

That is sooo funny! lol. What did they think was going to happen for pete's sake?
Back to the subject matter, the only language some people realise. We can all sit here in judgement about what if/what about's? Do what you think is right at the time, gut instincts are the right ones. I am just surprised no one as suggested "National Service" yet!? The usual comment which gets banded about in this situation. No, if they hit you - hit them back with a bigger stick...0
