That ain't a dumbass questions. I found Milram's tactics absolutely bizarre.

Oh, and another question, what on earth is Cancellara doing in that lead group?

That's another strange one. Not going to be much use when Sastre and the Schlecks bridge across, is he?

Although the break is over 8 minutes now that Milram have given up (gee, great use of energy, boys). Maybe Cancellara wants a mountain victory

Yeah, boys with thighs like that bounce up and over mountains.

Cancellara will be there to assist either Frank or Andy Schleck when they catch him on the descent of the Tourmalet, i.e. tow them at speed to the foot of the Hautacam.

There's some good climbers being given a nice headstart today.

Although long way to go. I think the final 70km took me well over 5hrs last week!!!!

Milram and tactics are unhappy bedfellows.

    :lol::lol:

Sorry, but am trying to make sense of this - why doesn't Cancellara just go with the Schlecks when they go rather than going earlier and risk being stuck in a group of climbers going at a speed he's not happy at?

Because he's a big, heavy rider and won't be able to climb as fast as them.

I think CSC will try and test Evans today and one of the Schlecks will attack today. Cancellara should be able to get to the top of the Tourmalet before them then assist them on the descent, the valley road to the Hautacam and maybe the first kilometre of the climb.

Not nearly as cheesy as the Bettini/Sidi ones.

Cav could be in trouble today. Off the back at the very foot of the Tourmalet.

Ah, I think the penny has dropped - thanks. God, the poor man, he must be wondering why he didn't take one of those nice, comfy, secure jobs in a Swiss bank that his school careers advice teacher suggested.

The rider ranked fourth overall has just lost contact with the lead group. Farewell Schumacher...

Popovych has gone too - I knew him being in that break was a daft idea.

He's looking good. Should get to the Hautacam with 4-5mins. Enough? Probably not, but a chance.

Another no-show from Euskaltel in the Pyrenees. Samuel Sanchez out the back and Zubeldia was riding behind Hushovd and McEwen when he was dropped.

Kreuziger gone now too. Ooh, and now Cunego in trouble.

Euskaltel have never recovered from losing their doctor in 2004 after Millar squealed to the rozzers

Voight does look like it's killing him and knows once he's at the summit he can drop back. Valverde has to go into damage limitation mode and pace himself.
