as usual, not a lot of action of my small trip in from Limehouse.
However on my trip home on Tuesday I did encounter a rarity. I had just joined CS3 at the western end of Royal Mint street and was coming up on a folder when I noticed a large brick behind the upright. At first I thought it was an oversized docking point for the lock when I realised 2 things, there was no lock attached and that this brick was larger than I thought and went all the way down to cranks.
It's a battery! what we have here is a folding electric assisted bike.
Right then, this piece of cheating is going down. By this time we are at the lights to cross Leman Street. Wait for the light to go green, follow behind until we hit clear pavement on the cycle path and then floor it. By the time I get to the next set of lights and casually shoulder check I see that he is just crossing the zebra crossing.
Does he not feel the shame???0 -

No......
Invading Russia is a very bad idea, ask Napoleon.
Never one to shy away from pedantry, the French were also fighting the Spanish, Portugese and British at the same time. European war on two fronts, see....Mud - Genesis Vapour CCX

I only stayed anywhere near because of the lights. Fantastic to chase though so I had a good run in. A nod to the older chap on the white boardman who was trying to keep up with him too.
That I believe is the same rider I encountered last night! can't be many that ride a white Cervelo (fancy being such a tart you can ride a Cervelo as a commuter eh?) with red tape. He is as you say rather rapid and capable of holding that speed with relative ease!
Not a sniff of SCR action on my commute as I was heading for Thames Ditton. What is more depressing tho as I'll be in the car tomorrow and judging by the traffic I was passing this morning I'll need to leave even earlier to have any hope of arriving at the same time.........
Still I got my run down the hill to Surbiton High Street nailed in this morning and even got into a nice aero tuck - not much help with a back pack but meh!0 -

No, indeed they don't, and 10% is nothing compared to what they'd have given up if they'd been all gallic about it...0 -

Don't invade Russia.
You might argue that the Mongols were already in Russia but that is because they conquered it. As their name suggests, they were from Mongolia, a state sandwiched between China and what is now the Russian Federation. They were subsumed into the USSR at some point but then that was not itself "Russia"

Right then
Don't try and invade a nation that encompasses most of central Asia from the Baltic to the Pacific that may or may not currently include lower central Asian states in its orbit including Mongolia from outside of that area - specifically western Europe.
How's about that then?Fixed gear for wet weather / hairy roadie for posing in the sun.

Brief interlude. Wasn't pootling but wasn't hurtling over London Bridge and two MTBs fly past. Lights are red at the end of the bridge so I cruise down and all 3 of us turn left. Next lights red too, and the next. Then there looks like a clear stretch onward to Jamaica Rd. Lights turn green and suddenly I'm in top gear, unable to get away. Try frantically to change down a gear as the MTBs shoot off. Bloody thing wont shift. Meander to the edge to see what's up, letting a shopper go past my carbon road bike. Yup, gear cable loose and I'm restricted to just the front cog. The rest of the journey is spent either spinning or mashing... quite fun actually once I got used to the idea of only really having a big gear. Must be what LiT's SS is like.0

Left work tonight at the same time as another roadie but he was of the red light jumping variety and vanished into traffic. Was quite pleased when I caught up with him at Ham Cross 35 minutes later.
Got stuck in traffic exiting the park so he caught me up again and then we went our separate ways.Mud - Genesis Vapour CCX

Saw Robocop at Vauxhall Bridge tonight. I mean, I know it can get pretty manic out there but full body armour for the commute??
Then a bit later there was a women on a red steed, with a full "red flower" tattoo on her leg and some nice facial piercings.
Aside from that nothing to report. Anyone know why the traffic was very heavy west of P Square ?0 -

Sleepy!
Had a nice ride in, saw my puncture buddy from tube strike tuesday and chatted for a few miles, then had a blast down HSK.
Very few cyclists about this morning...0 -

I've seen either him or someone in similar garb on my commute and i thought the same.
This was back in the height of summer i.e. full daylight and he had not only the body armour but a myriad of lights and reflectors on him. Definitely safety conscious.
Which made me shake my head all the more when he jumped numerous red lights.

Little in the way of SCR action this morning but I did get to wear my metaphorical shining armour after helping a damesel in distress in Molesey. Simple puncture, changed her inner tube and off I went leaving bystanders wondering who this masked champion was.
Only other thing of note was the traffic light grand prix on Queens Ride where I blasted away and was at 49kph when I got to the bottom of Bolan Death Bridge. Given how crap i've felt all week this came as a surprise to me but normal service was soon resumed.
Hope I feel better next week.Mud - Genesis Vapour CCX
