What's up with that? I have lots of friends who sing in church some religious some not.

  • Woah, I totally missed a lot of posts...

Its an informal chamber choir really - singing for concert in aid of Autistic Society (Jane Asher is patron). We did carmina burana at the Barbican in spring and mozarts requiem in summer.

Nothing what so ever to do with the large number of attractive 20-30 year old soprano's. No. Not at all. 8)

Good man. Presumably though, to look cool, you lie and tell them you ride a road bike.

I sing in one too - and there aren't even any hot sopranos. It's fantastic.

I'm Welsh, don't sing very well and can't remember ever saying boyo in my life :D:D:D

Better dash off now and round up my sheep, a busy night ahead...

Forgot to say, I overtook a scooter on the way in this morning - she was only doing 20mph though - tailwind assisted.

  • Great run home tonight. Scalped with a roadie I know, he has a daughter in my eldest son's class. Third time I've met him on the commute:

First time, just after I'd got my new bike, I had a bit of trouble holding his wheel, but just about kept up.

Second time, about a month later, he had trouble holding my wheel, and just about kept up with me.

This time, I went past at 28 mph on the flat, held it for a good mile or so, while he kept up, after that he dropped off very significantly. Rest of the commute (a further four miles) was held above 24 mph. I think I might have broken him. He'll not like that, he's one of the most competitive people I've come across.

@cp sir you play netball and ride a brompton! Need I say more.......

DDD get away from my account how could you say such things about CP
Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.
Rule #9 // If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.
Rule #12 // The correct number of bikes to own is n+1.
Rule #42 // A bike race shall never be preceded with a swim and/or followed by a run.

Had a bit of a shock on a zebra crossing this morning, coming round the roundabout by St Mary Redcliffe Church and I see what looks like an unleashed dog crossing the road so have a quick look for the owner but don't see him then look again at the dog which is now reddish in colour with a large bushy tail. Turns out Mr Dog is a fox. They do exist in urban settings but to see one on the commute on a major road at 7:10 in the morning was a bit of a shock.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.
  • I had a bit of chase with a fixie on a silver(ed) bianchi all the way home. Only way he stayed ahead was to rlj at every light. Took him on the last stretch and left him weeping. Twat for rljing though - I got the weird and nasty looks for his shitty attitude.

Is your Cannondale grey? And were you in shorts and a s/sleeve top, with a mask this evening?

Rather intrigued as I don't remember being over taken... Vague memory of someone turning off at a bridge (can't remember which) to go south?

  • Its good to see so many people out in the dark wet and windy conditions still, I thought they may have started to hibinate by now, meansmore scalps though, woohoo

Almost took out a ped on a zebra crossing in the dark this morning, he was ninja'd up in all black and just seemed to blend into the darkness, and wet leaves, ooops

Quick ride this morning. Nearly sub-50 mins.

Bit of tit for tat with a chap on a Trek in SA jersey. Wore baggy shorts and moving a bit quickly. The shaved legs, which had some rather pumped looking veins on them, suggested he did more than rocket back and forth on the commute.

I have a squealing front brake. I've got to get that fixed before I get back on it! Way too embarrassing having peds turn round thinking "WTF?!".

The one in the car. I - ahem - drove in yesterday pre congestion charge. Long day, all in all, plus back is feeling a little sore at the mo, so I decided to attempt to learn from what might have been mistakes last year.

"Work" is quite hard to manage at the mo.

Post VB. You wuz left for dead. Until I joined the queue of cars between AB and CB. You might have noticed a pleasant V8 thrum as I drove past.

You want my scalp? On a bike? Dream on, sonny!

Yeah. That's rather what I've been thinking. V stiff first thing in the morning, but loosens up reasonably well, so equivalent condition to quite late in the recovery process last time. Seems not to be getting worse (the 48 hours after first signs are when I really find out how bad it's going to be), so that's good. Might be nothing more than a strain from having to carry one of the kids upstairs to bed a few days ago.

    We shall see. Yippee. :?

Aside from wearing shorts and a short sleeve top in winter? No.

I wore one of those masks for a while years ago. Didn't really get on it with it, but stuck with it nonetheless.

Then left it hanging on the bike over a holiday period - Easter, maybe. Put it back on, seemed fine. A few days later I came down with one of the worst sinus/throat/lung infections I've ever had.

Moral: change the filter. God knows what had grown in there, but it sure did like me as a host.

PS: passing someone, or something that is stationery in traffic doesn't really count as a scalp.

  • Thats good. It was a wee bit chilly but i still had a sweaty back when home...

I just hate the taste of traffic fumes - a lot.

Sorry to hear back's gone a little - my bro-in-law and dad both have trouble and bro cycles every day too. Deep heat after a bath usually sorts any issue I have. Stings like buggery using it on open pores.

I get the exact same thing after rupturing a disk playing rugby a few years ago. You feel a twinge out of the blue and go to bed praying that you wake up and everything is ok! I actually find that a lack of cycling makes my back more susceptible to relapses bizarrely...

Used to wear one too. It caused my glasses to steam up, which was a bit of problem when I need to see out of them. I dread to think what bugs collected in them.

Re the back - slightly colder weather the last couple of days causing it to tighten up?

@MM - why the need tyo stay at home today? Had enough of the headwinds, eh?
