Good work along there tho, 30mph is certainly going some, I think I only hit about 27mph this morning chasing the scooters before I had to slam the anchors on for a ped crossing red light :-(
I've made an addition to my bag now, just to make it a bit easier to spot me........I now have a reflective skull hanging of the top light hook......with my FCN on ;-)
Nope, I'm not longer in the white jacket. I'm full ninja, black tights, black coat and black gloves. My bag's strap and largeportion of the back is reflective.
I hit the drag strip anytime between 5.30 - 6.30. Today I'll be hitting it around 6.30. Leaving work around 6pm. If you're near Soho, our commutes could overlap and I could take a detour to include the Millbank...

Quick ride home last night and was pretty tired when I got on the bike this morning. Really felt like a sensible steady ride in but for some inexplicable reason my legs started turning over quickly (for me) and never one to miss the chance of a decent time I got my head down and worked all the way in.
Does that happen to anyone else??
Anyway despite some heavy traffic through Lacock (where they filmed some of the Harry Potter scenes, Cranford Chronicles, and other period dramas) and the London Road into Bath I still managed to do the 21 miles in just over the hour (rolling time).
It's peculiar that some days I can't wait to get on the bike and end up feeling like I'm riding through treacle and then this morning when I feel like crap I get out and float .... makes no sense at all ...
:?
And there's loads of film crews over Wiltshire at the moment. My longer route home goes through Attworth past the base for the BBC's Lark Rise to Candleford and some of their 2ndry locations are dotted round the rest of the local villages.
It does make me realise how lucky I am cycling in such a beautiful part of the country!!

Yes, I had the turbo boosters on this morning for no apparent reason. Helped somewhat that the "road closed" for re-surfacing wasn't closed to cyclists [thanks Mr road re-surfacer chap that was most helpful! ]0 -

Picked up a few boogeys on the way home last night, not to mention a slew of persistant RLJing numpties on the Clapham-Balham Drag.
Traffic was unusually heavy which almost ruined my usual blast down past the Shell/BK, not helped by the fact that I had a roadie alongside me who was CLEARLY wanting a race :-D
I duly responded by busting up some Grade A awesome and frankly scared myself with my filtering at some stupid speeds.....he was behind me once it leveled out and we both narrowly avoided being taken out by a right turning vehicle in a break in the queued traffic.
Once I turned off the rest of the ride was pretty standard, one ejit rider decided filtering up the RHS of cars was a GOOD THING despite traffic coming the opposite direction, I'd already held back know I wasn't going to make it but him and another hybrid/MTB type just kept going forcing the car coming the other way to have to swerve to avoid them  To top it off one of them then decided they didn't have enough room on the LHS so bumped up on the pavement further ahead........
Different route in this morning didn't bring any fun until Camberwell where I had a myriad of RLJ's to chase down  A very lucky blast of speed saw me narrowly avoid a smart car on E&C (stupid I know!) and then the blast up Borough High Street and over LB meant again I was playing catch-up with those that ignore the red light.0 -
V quiet this am - no competition but I notice I'm now managing the uphill section of the Old Canal on the top of my middle ring - leg strength must be improving.
Thanks to the recovery vehicle driver who waved me on at a busy junction this morning0 -

Came in at lunchtime and was quite thankful that there weren't too many bikes on the road bar a few pootling couriers.

Nod, bugger all carbs for the legs to stock up with... Best times I've had were post mahoosive pasta fests. Which is a pain when you want to cut down on them but hey ho.

My bus scalped a roadie this morning. Shame on him, I nearly waved as we trundled past.

After a couple of weeks off from cycling, this week has been one of feeling out of condition (put on about 3 kgs in the past 2 weeks - lots of biscuits), although managed a scalp on Fulham Palace Road this morning.
The highlight of the week so far has been the best (worst?) piece of RLJing I have ever seen. Enough discussion of whether RLJing is right or wrong elsewhere, but if you are going to RLJ at least do it properly.
I'm approaching and then stop at the lights between South Africa Road & Wood Lane when I notice someone of a slicked up hybrid trying to trackstand at the lights. Problem is they aren't very good and rather than admit defeat and either RLJ fully and be away or put their feet down they continue to try to trackstand. This results in them crawling (slower than taking dolly steps) across one lane and continue to do so through the middle of the box junction.
Luckily the green light filter traffic is empty.
Spectacular."Bed is for sleepy people.
Let's get a kebab and go to a disco."

You cheated, you were slipstreaming the blue van a charge I'm guilty of too. Till you slipstream a bus at 25mph and then realise how slowly you're pedalling you don't really realise the effort needed to hit 25 mph on your own.
Was sat at the lights onto a roundabout I use at 7am and we were swamped with cyclists, must have been 9 of them and not one of them went through the red light, some went ahead of the ASL. Some did however undertake the cars on the roundabout on the white hatched lines on the left which I avoid as thats generally where all the crap from the road ends up though I did encounter an 1/2" boly on the main carriageway recently.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -
On the way home this evening I spotted a shocking amount of riders WITHOUT lights and on properly busy roads as well! My route took me from LB down Borough High Street, round E & C then through Camberwell and towards Dulwich. One of the worst was probably the ejit that RLJ across the main junction DIAGONALLY before re-joining the traffic narrowly avoiding buses and cars!
Anyhow now I've got that out of the way back on topic......I managed to find a rather quick hybrid rider sporting long footie socks, found him RLJing on the approach but seemed to play a bit better further down. Came past at a fair lick over the bridge (rather unusual for me!) Of course I duly setup correcting the balance of the universe by blitzing him from the lights at the south side and don't think I saw him again until a gaggle of riders RLJ a bit further down.
Dealt with the "inclines" on the way home a lot better then I expected, especially considering I was feeling less then on-form with the recent short sharp sprint commutes I've been making :-)0 -

That sounds awfully like St James Barton roundabout, approached from the A38 heading towards "the centre". The ASL finishes miles away from the actual roundabout and that hatched area is a nightmare in the wet!Rules are for fools.0 -
Is it friday yet? No? B$gger.
The legs are all over the place at the moment since a session on the rollers on monday. Was tired yesterday, hurty today. Boo.
I got told I have a bad bike by a fakenger chap on moorgate yesterday. I don't think he meant this in a good way Then he said it had nice hoops, though. I started to question his judgement at this point
On chelsea embankment today I passed a bloke in some expensive rapha and an assos enrobed chap. At the RL at chelsea bridge assos man said he would have thanked me for the tow but he couldn't grab the wheel. Score!0 -

Yes, the road is actually North Street! I usually take the 2nd or 3rd lane on that roundabout depending on the traffic already there as the sequencing of the lights is spot on for me going down towards the new Primark store.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -
Boring this morn - but probably a good thing as I should be taking it easy.
No one to play with, just a stupid construction HGV driver who seemed intent on repassing me just before each set of lights (until, of course, I left him in my wake - which wasn't exactly that hard).
I sometimes wonder if idiots like that realise the responsibility they hold by being in charge of what is essentially a 10 ton weapon. Besides coming way too close to me for comfort, the way he'd race up to and then brake hard behind queues of cars or chareg around corners was just plain stupid. One small mishap adn he'd squash a car or a ped or a cyclist. Idiot.
Phew.David
