Back in the saddle after a week off due to injury and business travel.
Should do so more often...legs felt extremely fresh though CV fitness had taken a hit....

I flogged myself half to death this morning trying to make the 9:15 train (early start) only to find my avg well down, I don't get it I barely dropped below 20mph for the whole 20 miles and yet my avg was 17.5mph
I am most unhappy and to top it all off some SS twat passed me as I was slowing for a RL guess what he did... yep RLJ grrrr! I chased him down and took his poncy new media ponytailed toupeRule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.

Got absolutely soaked in the last mile on the way to work which lead moist clothes to ride home in and the rain in Brizzle seems to have brought the stupid gene to the forfront of drivers minds today on both legs of the short commute I enjoy.
Approaching a set of lights where traffic turns right across my path I could see two cars waiting with the opportunity for one to make the turn with plenty of time, as I closed to the junction I could see the second wanting to go as well so I covered the brakes and hit the coast button. Just as I got to the junction the Focus went for it then changed his mind with a dipping of the nose of the car where he was heavy on the anchors. I went round him, with much verbal applause from myself, onto the wrong side of the road which luckily was clear. Strangely enough the adrenal glands didn't rate the incident that highly and I remained pretty calm. On the way home I was in the middle of the lane rolling towards a red light when I looked down to my right and saw the front of another focus trying to overtake me with not enough room obviously :shock:I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -
Not a great cycle in this morning - almost got spat on by some idiot coming out of Richmond Park as I overtook him - spitting out over yor right shoulder really not cool.
Then got a puncture just as i'd hit the NKR after Putney bridge - worst thing was i'd just flown by half a dozen bikes only to have to pull in 100m later and see them all disappear up the road.
Hopefully there won't be too much a wind tonight and can fly home to make up for it.You'll not see nothing like the mighty Quin.0 -
I cycled in an hour early - leaving at 8.15 rather than 9.15 - and it was like Beijing! Well, not quite, but a proper stream of cyclists of all types all the way from Putney to Soho. And I scalped them all, of course
I did have words with a guy who kept undertaking (the other cyclists) just as the lights were about to change - all it would have needed was an unseen ped or a wobble from the front cyclist to cause a nasty and utterly unnecessary pile-up. After exchanging some words he mumbled "I'm not an idiot" to which I could only reply "in this case I think you might be". He was, though.0 -
Ouch - scalped this morning big time.
The legs and back were hurting a bit from the weekend (it's a lie I never fell of the bike pissed in Richmond town center) so it was a relatively easy one. Just pushing it slightly at about 20ish I became aware of a presence to the rear of me. I push it up to about 22 ish, and yep the shadow is still there, but now he's half wheeling me  Now I have no objection to being drafted, but don't bloody half wheel, it leaves me with nowhere to go to avoid potholes, drains etc Eventually a shaved leg roadie on a carbon frame (a Focus I think) sprints past and puts a few lengths between us. I caught up with him at the lights by Avery Hill, and drafted him all the way through Eltham until we went our seperate ways.
For some reason I just couldn't muster the energy/will power to take back my scalp   it must be the exertions from the weekend taking their toll.pain is temporary, the glory of beating your mates to the top of the hill lasts forever.....................

Hi Rich that was me I to was a bit sore after yesterday's ride .
Sorry was trying not to draft but find a point to pass you but was some traffic. Thought you was behind me in Eltham High St.
Did you see the dickhead scooter pull out into the cycle lane on me at Avery Hill?0 -

Hi, I wondered if it was of us , yep I did see the dick head scooter, I hate that section, Eltham High St can be just as bad.
Nice bike btw, you definately had the legs on me this morning. It makes me feel better to know I've been done by one of our own
Edit: I did wonder of you trying to find a place to pass, I'm a grumpy old git on Monday morningspain is temporary, the glory of beating your mates to the top of the hill lasts forever.....................

Should have seen his face as I pulled along side him and then went past. Made me laugh he then accelerated past me so why the hell he pulled into the cycle lane and slowed up was beyond me.
Best bike today as I'm waiting on a new bike to commute in on.
Anyway hope to see you again I'll give a hello next time.0 -
WTF was going on on embankment this AM?
8.30 AM (ish) - was solid traffic from Vauxhall bridge to Cheyne Walk (in both directions - but worse going West)?!
It added 10mins to my journey...0 -
Despatched a slew of roadies and SS types on the run up to Tower Bridge this morning, it's even more satisfying when they RLJ and you catch them twice
Had a chap on a Focus in Camberwell who I thought might have put up a bit of a fight but that wasn't to be either, shame as I seemed to be bl00dy flying (sure there was a tailwind....)
The Highway was great fun but completely devoid of cyclist and then I had a chap on a hybrid on Narrow Street decide he was turning right, he sorta did a shoulder check and stuck an arm out - thankfully I was paying attention as I was just about to overtake him and had to brake to allow him across!
One last thing, I'd like to thank the lovely driver of the 277 bus on Westferry Circus this morning for actually paying attention. Maybe next time if you look properly when approaching the roundabout you might see me and actually stop BEHIND the line. I don't quite think he understood why I was giving him such a filthy look....scary to think he's allowed to carry members of the public!0 -

Was at work at 5am - wet, worn out and bedraggled. I want to go home.....can't SCR today to out of it (not the right time of day).0

I cycled in with the missus this morning, thankfully it was so early we were only scalped by a bloke on a blue FG. Once we went our separate ways I ramped up the Decade and scalped a Wilier and a Langster in quick succession, happy days. the Decade is pretty swift for a SS, loving my Mice Advanced chainring.

I think it was a problem on the South Bank. The traffic cleared after the Chelsea Bridge turn off, heading East. It was the amount of traffic turning right (south) which was jammed up.
SCR resumed thereafter.
On the subject of which, the legs were good this morning. Scalp easily remained intact.
Biondino - there must have been no more than two minutes between us! A long time in SCR world though.FCN 2-4.

absolutely nothing this morning, although my head was still sore from having my scalp ripped off in RP on Saturday's drinks (by a couple of fellow SCR-ers, and as I am terrible at names, I won't show myself up further) as I blew up and my HR went close to 200 (not good for someone my age)."Bed is for sleepy people.

It's the least I expect from someone piloting such a nice bike. I think I spotted a couple out and about today actually.......
Need to to a minor route adjustment as one of my normal roads is closed for a speed table installation, got round it by using a bit of pavement this morning but I'm buggered if I'm doing that everyday....looks like I'll be taking Red Post Hill in for a change as opposed to Sunray Avenue off Denmark Hill, a small PITA as Sunray Avenue works great with the mini-roundabout i.e straight over on both approaches :-(0 -

Yeah, fingers crossed - I found a picture of a Madone that had encountered light drizzle:

heard on the radio that Fulham road was blocked due to burst watermain or something... hence i am guessing all the extra traffic scooting around kings road and embankment this am, cleared up past chelsea bridge...0
