I know this should be an anti-rant. But I'm going back to work on site on Monday. Which means 2hrs a day commuting (by car) and stuck in a cold office from 9.5 :(

Saw a forecast for RAIN, so I got my mudgards from the cupboard.

Grrr, they are all bent up. My own fault for just throwing them in there :( Oh well...

Additionally went over some oil today. Could smell it, and boy could I feel it on the rear weel.

But I did the most awesome unexpected POWERSLIDE going around a bend. After that I nearly poop'd myself so took it real easy.

The two plebs on motorbikes who undertook me at about 50mph as I was scalping a scooter at 25mph, you're f*cking fortunate I looked over my shoulder before pulling back into the left or that could have been messy.

  • to the chap who called me a "fella" at TB road I am a lady!!! and I didn't jump the red lights...I mearly anticipated them changing to green when the TB road lights changed to amber....as many cyclist do at this junction...I'd only done 3/4 of a wheel turn by the time our lights were green and not even over the ped crossing.

anyway, can you turn right onto TB road heading towards Tooley St???
    http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&sourc ... 17,,0,0.38

EDIT: btw...I was behind the white line at the junction, not like the cyclist in the link

I think the road sign indicates it's a straight across junction only, if so, you were in fact in the wrong my shouting friend.
  • Forgot to take all my puncture repair kit/spare tubes out of husbands rucsac and return to my panniers. Of course the puncture fairy realised I was defenseless and of course took full advantage this morning

Thankfully only 1/2 mile away from Portswood Cycles so collecting the bike at lunchtime with a fresh new inner tube all repaired! Just need to make it home and restock my bag this evening now...

my new bikes even sitting in the shop waiting for me to pick it up but I can't get up there.

    As usual, a rant at myself;

This morning I was ahead of schedule when I cam across a broken down car blocking a junction. The driver was attempting to push it off the road, aided by another cyclist. It as an Audi A8, which is very heavy car.

    I rode straight past.

The pf has made an early appearance in 2011, my first commute and she had me. One positive is that I only noticed it as I got in.

Left late for the rode to work this morning after spending ten minutes looking for my medicalert medallion only to find it on the bar towel in front of the keyboard that I couldn't see this morning, at least it saved me £20 for a new one.

First commute of the year - 'Bang' broken headset bearings.

Second commute of the year - 'Bang' broken BB bearings.

Bills to replace including the tools, nearly a ton.

    Happy new year bike

To the bendy bus driver blocking the whole A3 at junction at Oval tube this morning. Please learn what a box junction is.

To the bus driver near bank this morning, please learn what an advance stop box is, you should not of been in it, and you can't claim you passed the first line on amber either as the lights where red some time before you got there.

You are both professional drivers you should know better!

why do some blokes feel the need to empty half a can of spray deodorant under each armpit??? Why? Most of it just ends up stinking out the air or the changing rooms. I do not want to breathe in that nasty chemical sh*t thank you. And I cannot think it does the sprayers lungs any favours either! Whats wrong with roll-on. Is it really just that bit too much effort?

To the curly haired wanker on the fixie this morning. Don't edge past me, spinning furiously, when you are intending to turn left up ahead. Don't realise you haven't got time to get past me and make the turn, yet do it anyway. Don't look at me and say 'sorry', as you then left hook me. You didn't mean 'sorry for left hooking you like a cunt', you meant 'sorry, I'm about to left hook you like a cunt'.

Deliberately and knowingly left-hooking another cyclist. That's low. You fucking cunt.

When I closed the blinds last night there was no snow, when I open them this morning there is at least an inch of the stuff lying on the ground.

Just in time for me starting work on Monday.

Back on site in the office today. Only to find out the heating is farked. Boiler died before christmas and they are waiting for a replacement.

So there is nothing but a few electric heaters trying (and failing) to heat the large open plan office. Had I known I would have put my thermal undies on this morning instead of deciding against it thinking it was a little warmer today.

Car that pulled into the bus lane making me brake hard enough that the back wheel lifted off the ground. I'm sure it only lifted a few inches but it's always a bit interesting fixed and clipped in and more than enough for first thing on a Monday morning.

I think I did keep pedaling, just a bit disconcerting to feel the back wheel go quite that light. I'm sure it felt more dramatic than it was.
