I don't think so, no one has posted anything about back door activities available to Dads on a visit to Centre parksIf I know you, and I like you, you can borrow my bike box for £30 a week. PM for details.0 -

On another note, looking back through the thread and looking at my sig.
I haven't bought a bike since 2014!
That's 5 years ago.

- New road bike frameset to replace the one she grew out of last Summer. She's now grown out of this one, and I'm about to have to buy another.
- CX frameset to replace the one I bought 2 years ago
- Track bike
- MTB frameset to replace the one I bought 2 years ago
- New CX/MTB shoes (2 sizes)
- New road shoes (2 sizes)
- New gloves to replace the ones she left in her helmet at school, hanging on her bike, on a windy day
In her defence, she can't help growing, and she does way more non-commute cycling than I'm able to fit in...
Thank goodness for eBay; although I seem to spend half my life building bikes, and the budget for new cables is not small, I do seem to be able to sell her old frames for much the same as I paid for them...Pannier, 120rpm.0 -

Let me help you:- Check nursery costs
- Check public school fees if you don't like the state one in your area
- Check university tuition fees...
As a (not very empathic) coworker once said, "If I didn't have kids, I could afford a new massive flat TV every month!"0 -
Yep. All that lovely sleep we're supposedly getting is ruined as we're up all night panicking about the cost of nursery fees.0

Got physically skimmed today by a chef under naval training in a white van - shoulder rubbing with sheet metal moving 20mph faster than you ain't fun.
Driver got out 15 meters up the road and started screaming at me - I'd just started moving again after slamming on the brakes.
Thank feck for cameras - while pointing them out to him made them even angrier, it stopped him approaching me.Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

Surely "chef under naval training" is another way of spelling "CLINT"?Ben

Heh. Turns out this was one road over from from where Hampshire police were doing a close pass/ safe pass initiative as well.Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

Ah; capisce - completely over my head this morning. I can’t get past “see you next Tuesday” or the word itself. Although your comment does bring to mind that excellent cake, iced “HAPPY BIRTHDAY CLINT!!!” with inadequate kerning.Location: ciderspace0 -

Riding at 35k/h, car overtook me then pulled straight across to get into a car park. Literally no time to react other than scream "CUUU" and clamp the anchors on for about half a second. Bad bruising and road rash on hip, arm and knee but nothing broken. Bike appears relatively unscathed (bar tape f***ed and potentially the bars themselves - not had a proper look yet, saddle scraped up, pedals scraped and maybe power meter pod damaged). Bibs and jersey ruined though :?
Absolute, utter muppet. Two independent witnesses, luckily - and she admitted it straight away. Rather than actively trying to kill me, I suspect she was either in her phone or distracted by her kids in the back
Thought I'd broken my elbow to begin with but luckily an orthopaedic surgeon happened to be passing and checked me over before the ambulance got there
Think a call to Leigh Day is in order...Fat chopper. Some racing. Some testing. Some crashing.

She'll probably call it an accident when actually it is just plain old careless driving with the consequences you've suffered. I do believe most drivers think you just bounce off the road tarmac like on a duvet until they see the blood.0

Did a TT last night - which was painful. Peeling the skinsuit off the road rash afterwards was... 'interesting' - but at least I had the pain from bruising on my shoulder, hip and elbow to take my mind off it
Closer inspection of the bike shows numerous issues - unsurprising with the speed of the crash. Rear mech is probably shot - it shifts, but not reliably, and jerks under any load. The bar tape is ripped off and carbon bars look like they might be damaged where they've been exposed to the ground and scraped it. Right shifter scored where it hit the deck. Two scratches on frame, probably from stones on the ground where it bounced. Saddle ruined on right hand side - looks like the bike slid some way on it when I came off on the deck. Wheel out of true, though remarkably the spokes all look ok.
Bike itself is rideable, but any shift under load causes the chain to skip over cassette - mech hanger looks straight, so probably needs reindexing, but not sure I'll bother if the rear mech needs replacing anyway.
Irritating as I have a target race coming up next week :xFat chopper. Some racing. Some testing. Some crashing.

I wish my LBS would hurry up with my bikes. Now have three builds I'm waiting on, and I like the guy too much to say 'please hurry the F up.'0

Flipping hell, sorry to hear about that
Hope you make a full, rapid recovery ,and that leigh day are able to sort an interim payment quickly to get the bike back up to useable standards via an LBS for the race (if not a new bike entirely...)Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

@Cruff: Ouch! Glad you're not too badly hurt considering. Is the bike carbon? If so I'd think it would be replaced as I doubt anyone would be willing to declare it safe.0 -

Hanger might look straight, but might not be.
A few years ago, my bike fell over on the train, slow-mo style. Everything looked ok.
Later on, mid-ride it was shifting a bit odd. I stopped at the top of a hill, then when i started off again the hanger snapped and smashed the the mech into the spokes. Luckly spokes were ok, but i had to MacGyver the bike into a single speed for the journey home (with a few episodes of the chain coming off every few miles). New mech, chain and hanger required. Hanger took 2 weeks to source (i now keep spares at home and 1 in the saddle bag).0
