Double puncture on morning commute. Call of shame 2 miles from home.

Which is worse call of shame or walk of shame back home with your bike? Done that before now. Gives you time to think about why you didn't pack your puncture repair kit that day! Kind of makes it worse.

BTW i bet time went slowly waiting for the pickup. It always does.

Blasted greasy, diesel covered roads today.
Drops of the stuff all over the place, meant swearing & swerving like mad man around them all, as they weren't consistently in one place on the road.
And therefore, there were a few angry drivers for swerving...

I spotted this too. Had about 4 separate mini wheel slips on the way in. Taking it easy was the order of the day.

More than my fair share of overtake-then-immediately-slow-down-for-a-junction/traffic light/left turn of late. Really getting on my tit. Got mouthy with the last one, didn't make me feel any better.

Have just seen that the Chelsea Embankment (the bit by the Physic Gardens) roadworks are due to carry on until at least 23 April. The road surface is deadly so keeping your line to avoid the chancer's overtake (despite signs saying not to overtake cyclists) is a real difficulty.

So in short, the real problem appears to be overtaking, which means I'm not giving it enough welly, but my power output has plateaued a bit. May need to resort to gears.

I've decided this is how I'm going to get rich:
    i. Invent a diesel tank that (and this is the really subtle bit) only has one hole in it, at the top, for filling up.
ii. Learn a new skill, almost impossible to acquire apparently without years of study and practise, which involves filling up a diesel tank without pouring diesel liberally everywhere except in the filling-up hole.

This begs the question, why are you not taking the lane when you get to the roadworks?

Won't you need at least two holes, one for filling up and one for dispensing fuel to the engine?! And a breather hole to prevent a vacuum although that could be the filler hole I guess.

Hmm. Perhaps unclear. Northbound you can't really sit in primary all the way from AB to CB unless you are okgo or are drafting a van (well, you can, but it is either really hard work or you're being pretty rude as the road is normally wide enough to accommodate all). Issue is that the manoeuvre to get into primary at the roadworks is across unpatched degraded ex-pedestrian refuge debris (just after the entrance to the Royal Hosp. grounds), which my efforts to avoid/tentative approaches across have occasionally resulted in someone swinging around for the pass. Yes, yes, just take the lane earlier, but this is a rant, not a reasoned observation.

Undo his quick release? That seems to be the game at my place. I have been checking mine before leaving the office since my rear wheel fell out while lifting it to shift into a smaller gear at lights a couple of weeks ago. Last night the rear qr had been nearly fully undone and reclosed. I have asked security to check CCTV.

Can qrs undo themselves? I do them up pretty tight - it's an effort to undo the lever.

I would imagine it's a sacking offence if we can get the fcuker on camera.

What a spanner, if you really have someone doing that at work!

While a covert camera might be nice, could you perhaps buy and fit a set of security skewers to your commuter?

Security cameras covering the bike storage area are inoperative since a cost-cutting initiative 12 months or so ago! This is not common knowledge apparently.

I used to have to do up my front qr a lot at work. I first thought it was just other rack users knocking it open. It is a wheel bender so i use my rear wheel to lock it securely. The first time i only resized when i lifted my front wheel to go up a kerb to a cycle path/mixed use path. Fortunately my forks have lawyer's lips i think they're called.

After it happened a few times and i had thought about it I realised someone is playing silly buggers.

Then one night i set off having checked the front and rear qr. They both felt secure. About 50m into the ride I had a crash when my rear wheel crashed out and i skidded out along the road on the rear derailleur and outer chairing. My rear wheel was being dragged along by tyre broken chain.

I checked the qr and it was still securely closed. I can't be sure but i believe it was only half in the dropouts. Tampered with for sure. It cost me over £100 to sort out with me doing it myself.

There has been history with people causing damage before just that it was usually car tyres with nails in or scratches on cars.

Got forced onto the wrong side of the road at the roundabout outside work. I'm turning right and someone coming the other way turning left forced me to brake sharply and go the wrong side of the traffic island. If there had been something coming the other way I would have been in serious trouble.

Caught them up as they queued for the multi-story on site and went full Malcom Tucker. Security told me there was no need for that language. Red. Rag. To. A. Bull.

Last night a complete tool in a Jag managed to go the wrong way around the roundabout by Victoria Park in Surbiton - at speed.

He was driving so badly that I half expected him to be being followed by a police car, unfortunately no such luck.

It was only sheer luck that I was positioned on the exit of the roundabout myself so had moved over to the apex of the turn giving him space to go around me rather than through me.

Stratford Greenway must be the most boring commute in the world, It is just 7 miles of straight former railway with no real features, no traffic, annoying people with dogs, kissing gates and people who appear to be walking really fast with headphones in completely unaware of anything other than their breathing.

I must say, i miss the London Commute.

How the hell do you end up doing that? Up there with the weapon of a driver on Putney bridge this morning with toast in one hand and phone in the other. I road policing really that dead?

Christ knows. Although I would imagine it was deliberate rather than accidental, especially since the entrance and exits have a traffic islands between them.

I didn't have time to look around, but I'm guessing that he exited in the wrong lane too..
