Garmin - make a cadence sensor that fits a crank that isn't completely flat

Torq - male a gel that tastes as nice as the flavour suggests it will

Anyone - make a front mudguard that fits a modern bike

People riding through Richmond Park after dark, who can't be bothered to get off their bikes to go through the pedestrian gates, and keep everyone else waiting while they waddle through with the bike between their legs.

    ***It's actually taking you longer***

Doesn't the fact I can follow you through the gate and then overtake you about 10 yards beyond suggest that there might be a quicker way?

People stopping in the gates to Bushy Park to let their dogs off the lead or put them back on. Get out the f'ing way first.
I go through the gates on my bike, but I think there is more room as they have extended the cages. Ride in, apply front brake and lift back wheel to pivot bike around front wheel then open gate and ride off. Easily quicker than getting off, but I can't do that in the RP gates. I wonder why they haven't extended the RP gates like they have in Bushy? It's been a couple of years now. I've seen a couple get through them with a tandem, although they did have to dismount.

people switching their front bike-lights off whilst manhandling the bike through the gate to avoid self-blinding, and forgetting to switch back on. And subsequently cursing pedestrians on the road who don't get out of their way.

8am meeting in Victoria so took the tube.

Meeting finished at 8:30 so went to take the tube to the City. Huge mass of people outside - too busy on the platform.

Fine fine, the tube is sh!t. Standard.

Only some knobber in a petrol blue suit (too tight to be respectable) thought it would be a good idea to shout punch his way through the crowd, rather than go through the gaps everyone else was.

Now have an eye that is beginning to swell & a pair of bent glasses. Think I've managed to fix them.

    Grim.

I recommend picking up a strong magnet from ebay. They cost next to nothing and fit pretty flush with the crank when stuck to the pedal, so look a lot neater. http://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/disc-magnets

It's a bit of a crap rant ... but I'm going to make it anyway ...

    part 1:
now commuting home is lighter, overtaking vehicles are taking more chances - not with me as such, but with the oncoming traffic ...

    part 2:
When you're driving along a narrow lane with parked cars yourside and a queue of vehicles going the other it's a good idea NOT to try and hit the speed limit ... slow down you daft bint in a white BMW ... !

    there ... that's better :)

Don't try and get into Victoria Tube in either of the rush hours. If you're in the area and you need to catch the Tube, then it's worth the extra 5mins walk to Pimlico (for Victoria line) or St James' Park (for District line.)

Could someone PLEASE start erecting signs that read "Turn your damn engine off" at all level crossings?

Got stuck at one for 10 mins last night (freight train didn't clear the crossing) and NO ONE turned their engine off the whole time.

p.s. - dingbats on BSOs - do not shoal to the front of the queue and hold up everyone (including me) when the bloody barriers do finally lift.

Yesterday (5-March, 08:45'ish), CS3, Cable street out towards Canary Wharf, I watched two commuters on road bikes collide into the back of another at the pedestrian crossing because they assumed they only needed to stop when the lolly-pop lady is on the crossing. Lesson to be learned - heads up, look at the bike in front and check for any people crossing at zebra crossings!

    Rant #2

Same day, same road further on and a stretch of the road is closed to on-coming cars due to road works. However an incredibly stupid woman decided she could drive her car onto the blue CS3, skirting around the blockades in the road. With the car obstructing the cycle path the three road bike commuters bunny hopped onto the adjacent pavement to skirt around the car, however one of the cyclists misjudged the pavement and crashed to the ground, thankfully unhurt. Lesson to be learned - if you've got a heavy backpack on, or panniers, then it is going to be harder to bunny hop a kerb.

    Rant #3

This morning (6-March, 08:50'ish), I followed a commuter on a single speed road bike, he was wearing trainers, black tights, red shorts over the top, an orange jacket and a ruck-sack and he had two near misses and one crash. The first near miss was when he undertook a car which was slowing to turn left. The second near miss was when he got to a traffic light which had just turned green and since he was carrying more speed than the cyclists which had just pulled away, and rather than brake, he swerved around them in front of the traffic also pulling away from the lights narrowly avoiding getting run over. The crash - riding down Narrow Street an approaching car was overtaking a cyclist and, with a parked car on the left, there wasn't enough space so the cyclist in front cautiously stopped and Mr Red Shorts rode into them. Thankfully the cyclist, a yound French lady was unhurt but she was quite shaken. Lesson to be learned by Mr Red Shorts is don't worry about your fashion faux-pas, just give up cycling otherwise you are going to kill yourself and probably others.

Nothing would surprise me on that stretch of CS3!!! of my 20 mile commute each way I have seen more crashes (cyclist on cyclist) than the rest combined.

My eyes have been bothering me for the last few days. I have some very weak reading glasses, the optician said I should only use them if my eyes are bothering me, I've probably used them 3 times in 2 years. I only needed them for reading, I didn't need them to look at my computer screen. I just put them on and the screen is clearer, I should probably go for another eye test, and start wearing my glasses. Bugger, I really am getting old.

Dogs. And not on shared paths, no, in cars.

Lady coming other way towards me today, no danger to me TODAY. But, two Labrador sized dogs wandering round on the front seat. One with its paws on the dash above the steering wheel.

The one looking over the steering wheel is probably her guide dog.

I tend to only use it heading eastbound on the evening now but this rant brings back some memories :):)

Is it 1st of May or 1st of April when all the fair weather lot decide to swarm onto it and bring unmitigated chaos!? It's the fault of the crappy overloaded infrastructure (or lack of) of course in many cases but you do get a minority of real twunts on there. I often take my chances with the tipper trunks on commercial road rather then use it...which says something.

Agreed; I love ESC - a cheese fest par excellence! Either a small party to watch it or a good supply of booze, nibbles and a couple of IRC sessions.

Rant: a lovely weekend and I managed less than an hour on a bike. gah! And no cancellation yet for the LVIS Audax next month.

My wire-and-ratchet road shoes finally gave up today when I managed to snap the wire.
You people with more experience of these things: does that mean "end of shoes" or can the wire lacing be replaced? I haven't looked closely.
