I had a day off today so I went for a ride along the seafront. It was very nice!
However on the way home I'm climbing the hill towards a pinch point in the road. The pavement on the other side is extended into the road so it's a single lane. I have priority over traffic coming down the hill.
Apparently not according to the WVM who almost wiped me out as he shot through the pinch point and slammed on the breaks before hitting me. Apparently, when we 'discussed' this, I should tuck myself to one side when he comes through! :x
I told him 'to got tuck himself' instead!0 -

Seconded.
I've grown used to expecting Wiggle's "royal Mail free delivery" to arrive the day after I place my order.

While I'm in the mood .....
Coming round a blind downhill right hander this morning in the wet. It's a single lane with tight passing places. Just for a change a BMW overtakes 15 yards away from the bend without being able to see what might be coming - donkey.
Get into the corner and who'd have believed it - there's a van coming. BMW slaps on the anchors and stops on a sixpence - I grab the levers for all I'm worth and the back end instantly starts disappearing somewhere off to the left which was a tad disconcerting to say the least. As a general rule I try to avoid diving face down into wet gravel at 20+ mph.
How I managed to stay upright I have no idea. I let the levers go and then jammed them on and off again but I was pretty sure I wasn't going to be able to stop in time and that I would have to do an impromptu ascent of the BMW's rear window.
Fortunately the brakes kick in and I make the stop - side on - about 6" away from the BMW and I actually have my hand on his boot.
Man in BMW throws his left hand up to convey disgust at me touching his "precious" and accelerates away.
So the question is : Under current legislation is it acceptable in the UK to have automatic weaponry positioned on your bars, and can anyone recommend the appropriate mountings. Unfortunately not, only shotguns if you have a license.Le Cannon [98 Cannondale M400] [FCN: 8]

Thnak you Monkey Monster - I have considered the shotgun option but the scatter patterns make the certainty of delivering a fatal shot on the target a little more unpredictable .....Specialized Roubaix Pro SL : Litespeed Titanium Siena : Specialized Allez : Specialized Tri Cross :

You need one of these:
Wiggle knock them out for about a grand, and you can get them on the Cycle to Work scheme..... only if you live in Baghdad."Encyclopaedia is a fetish for very small bicycles"0 -
I've often wondered about motorist/cyclist `interaction' in US states where carrying a gun is legal. Perhaps with the wider roads, no roundabouts etc. there are just fewer interactions in general per road user.0

Perhaps flag them to stop make a wind down window gesture and then when they do - lob in a flashbang... or frag - the choice is yours. If they don't and pull away just take the heat seeking rocket launcher from side pannier and finish them off.
I find using the orbital laser too time consuming so merely set the hounds on them </mrburns>Le Cannon [98 Cannondale M400] [FCN: 8]

FWIW roundabouts are starting to make their appearance here in the states.0 -

Ok perhaps the world of weaponry will start seeing more carbon and titanium in their materials..... :?0 -
I knew I could rely on you ....
@ Wallace - great idea and I am instinctively drawn this option especially as it qualifies under the Cycle to Work scheme - unfortunately I have to get up Bowden Hill on the way home so I have to rule it out.
@ Kieran - clever - very clever ....
@ Monkey Monster - I can see the advantage that hand held ordnance has over a fixed turret but it kind of restricts me to close quarter work. Like the idea though of the rocket launcher from the pannier though.
I think that's the most practical option then. Just doing a search on Google ........Specialized Roubaix Pro SL : Litespeed Titanium Siena : Specialized Allez : Specialized Tri Cross :

Gah!
Cycle to work scheme, tied into Halfords, it's taken me 3 months of badgering to finally get to the point where I can pick up my new Tifosi.
I rushed home, dumped all my wet gear and drove round to pick up the bike.
"right, I'll take some decent SPD pedals and what shoes have you got?" says I.
"We've got these "bikehut" branded SPD compatible pedals for 50p, oh and no shoes... they're not very popular see"
seeing as it's on the C2W voucher, I could take the bike and lose £65, or leave the bike, order the bits and pick them all up together, more waiting grrrr!
Still at least I got introduced to my new bike and did get to leave clear instructions to the effect that I want them to adjust the front mech properly before I take delivery - it was rubbing on the chain when fully released. Not difficult to sort, makes me wonder what else might be wrong.
I really object to being forced to go to Halfords, if I needed a new set of spark plugs for the car I wouldn't go to my LBS, so why are we doing this the other way around?"Impressive break"
"Thanks...
...I can taste blood"0 -
To the bugger on Glasgow Road that pulled out right in front of me, hope you have a dodgy curry for lunch. To the Higher Power, that gave me a puncture on Maryhill Road, in the cold, dark rain, dam and blast to you. To DBH for the overshoes that have now worn away quickly at the front and gave me a wet foot (OK maybe my fault for walking about in them) but hope you get taken over..... To Wiggle that supplied the CO2 inflator that I used for very first time, thank you kind sirs."Encyclopaedia is a fetish for very small bicycles"0

Had you of hit me at that speed on the very wet road I wouldnt be sitting here now telling the tale, Id be in the mortuary (the bits they could find that is)
And what would you have done had a vehicle been coming the opposite way at speed seems as though this was on a bend?Boardman Hybrid Pro

Giving drunk friends lifts home....you tell them, don't wind the window down as it has a dodgy runner, you see their arm going for the handle!!! and say "don't wind it down!!"...they stop...but then 30 seconds later they actually wind it down and the window falls out....you then spend until 4am taking a damn door card off to repair the thing while they lie comfortably in bed...I hope the g1t has a bad hangover!!!!0

really appreciate your attempts to run me off the road this morning, when I wave you on your way with one finger was it right to jump out of your van and grab hold of me, and try to pull me to the ground?0 -
