Excellent local curry house (Aangan, on Petersham Rd, Richmond) has closed and been replaced by a vastly inferior one. Dunno why, they were doing great business. Only plus side is it'll probably result in us eating fewer curries and losing more weight!

    My boss is resigning today.

That likely means I'll be out on the street in a month - since my job is to work for him.

Looks like you will have to get rid of the new bike RC.

    Rick,

I know a guy who has his own recruitment business - in London. It's fairly new, so I think he's still a one man band, but you never know...

What sort of people do you recruit?

Possibly bad news, RC, but possibly good. You might get promoted into your bosses job. It's happened to me in the past.

I think the only way you could be more disliked (professionally), is if you did recruitment for estate agents for new bank premises.

S'not how it works unfortunately - at least for someone as junior as me.

Big boss has let it be known he wants to keep me on, and they'll try and replace my boss, so that's good.

I won't be out of a job immediately.

Certainly more precarious than it was, but at least I've got a bit of breathing time.

At least I can stop panicking. S'not what I need the day I go on holiday. :|

If you're offered an interview/agency enrolment at least make some effort to look tidy. Turned up to one today and out of the 6 people, including 2 agency staff I was the only one in shirt and trousers, admittedly it was probably dress down friday but the other enrollees were in jeans and trainers or trackie bottoms and football shirt

We were interviewing for a position in the adjoining team (Senior IT Support - 3rd line) and one guy turned up unshaven and no tie.

I looked at the other T/L and the unspoken "if you can't be arsed, neither can we" message was passed. I think the whole interview lasted 5 minutes

When out on Friday had the attention of a horsefly. The first time it was on my toned right thigh so I flicked it off, twice, it then went for my left leg which resulted in a knee/fly/palm sandwich. Now it seems I was bitten and got an itch I can't stop scratching :(

GRRRRR! Mother flucking knee is still painful. Did (literally) a few miles at the weekend and now I'm hobbling about again. It's been over a month now since that dopey f*cking cow drove into me. If I miss the planned MTBing trip to Scotland I will be even more seriously pee'd off than I am now.

Yep, was told to leave it for a few more weeks and see how it is. I've recently moved house so am in the process of registering with a new GP, will be making an appointment once that's sorted.

I had two weeks of nothing, no running, no cycling, walking to the car and back and stretching my leg was as active as I got. Did a 3 mile loop, and it's flared up again.

No visits from PF in over a year and now two in one week (so far)

Slow p*nct*re on Sat, couldn't find at roadside so had to resort to topping up with air every 10 miles to get home. Pump broke after second stop so now pumpless for commute. Luckily mate had one too so made it back.
Hole was right next to an old patch so new tube went in.

This morning, found it flat in the shed - in the new tube. Quick patch attempt didn't hold so had to now have another new tube in.

To top it off it made me run late and got caught up in the olympic torch relay carnival which I was hoping to avoid.
  • to the two cyclist banging on a car window to move out of cycle lane he encroached, it only took 30 secs after the lights changed for him to move out of it, have a bit of patience next time

I think it's recovering quicker than it was a few weeks ago, which is one positive.

But I've also realised just how close I am to the Scotland trip and to the Gravity Enduro I'm already paid up for. :|

Second time that I have been cycling past a pisspoor Bluebird Bus & Coaches bus in Manchester city centre when it has decided not to wait for me to get past, but just pull out. I complained about pisspoor Bluebird Bus & Coaches to TfGM, who took decisive action by ... passing the complaint on to pisspoor Bluebird Bus & Coaches. Not surprisingly, pisspoor Bluebird Bus & Coaches did nothing.

I stopped next to the pisspoor Bluebird Bus & Coaches bus at the lights, knocked on his door and asked why he, as the pisspoor driver of the pisspoor Bluebird Bus & Coaches vehicle, had elected to pull out whilst a vehicle was alongside, and he said he didn't care. Not only that, he said bikes shouldn't be on the road instead of his pisspoor Bluebird Bus & Coaches vehicle. He then shot off through a red light to avoid any further conversation.

So today is a double rant - I shall be emailing TfGM again, and ask them what exactly they expected the aforementioned pisspoor Bluebird Bus & Coaches to do other than file their referred complaint in the pisspoor Bluebird Bus & Coaches bin, and ask that they perhaps consider asking the pisspoor Bluebird Bus & Coaches management to consider educating the pisspoor Bluebird Bus & Coaches drivers as to the rules of the road that they are required to obey. They may also want to try to educate the driver of the pisspoor Bluebird Bus & Coaches bus that I spoke with this morning as to why motorised vehicles, such as the pisspoor Bluebird Bus & Coaches bus that he was operating, are on the roads by permit, and why bikes are there by right.

Did I mention that Bluebird Bus & Coaches are pisspoor?

Thinking on, the driver of the pisspoor Bluebird Bus & Coaches bus may not have seen me. I should have offered to let him know when I am alongside in future.

Would tapping firmly on the pisspoor Bluebird Bus & Coaches bus windows with my heavy bike lock be acceptable, do you think?
