Sore knee for a couple of days but nothing serious. Rugby Physio has had a look and diagnosed torn muscle fascia over the knee cap, almost certainly caused by cycling. I reckon starting hard from too high a gear. Too lazy to change before lights. Hurts more now it has a name. Supposed to rest but i'll just pootle to work. Scalp is suspended forthwith.

Grrrrrr, f*cking bell-end trying to squash me this morning.

Overtaking a queue of traffic, on the right, at 14mph according to Endomondo. Right here. There was a single queue of traffic due to parked cars in the box on the left.

I was on the right hand side of the hatched markings, overtaking the stationary traffic when a car suddenly pulled out to turn right at the RAB ahead. He didn't look in his mirror or start indicating until after he was moving.

I was next to his driver side window so said "Whooooaaaa, use your indicators before you turn" and just put it down to carelessness.

Next thing I know, after I've very clearly signalled right on the approach to the RAB, with him now behind me, he's trying to overtake. I'm 'taking the lane' so he's on the wrong side of the roadhere. I give a quick glance to see what he's doing, then have to slow down because there's 2 cars in front, also turning right. He tucks back in behind me.

I signal right again, just so he's clear.

The 2 cars in front move off, so it's my turn next, still being wary to 'take the lane' to stop him doing something stupid.

Final signal right, check all round then move off. And all of a sudden I'm next the entrance to the car park here (looking the other way in StreetView now), he's on my right hand side turning into me, pushing me into the car park. It was either that or hit the car.

    So I followed him in.

He parked up. Got out. I'd got off the bike. And calmly asked what he was doing. He said he hadn't realised I was there and that he hadn't seen me.

Despite almost hitting me once before, trying and failng to overtake, sitting behind me in the queue for the roundabout, and the fact I was wearing a bright yellow jersey, a bright orange backpack and I had a flashing Smart 1/2 watt on the rear.

Two colleagues were in a car behind him and saw the whole thing, they said they thought I was a 'goner'. So I may be paying a visit to the police at lunchtime.

    C*nt.

Seeing as you know where he parked maybe you should relieve him of his windscreen wipers and wing mirrors.....That might give him a real excuse not to have seen you!

I don't do premeditated, but if I was quick thinking enough I'd have put a deep footprint in the passenger side. It can happen whilst swerving to avoid someone.....

RV1 bus driver beeping me this morning. Yes, I had the lane. I was doing 20mph and there was all of 20 yards to the next set of stationary cars so what were you hoping to achieve?
Pointing to the bike lane is all well and good but all that indicates is a place you shouldn't be, not a place I should be

Well, the Police Station is shut, so I had to go to the council offices instead. I've been given a form to fill in. So it's up to me to fill it all in, find any witnesses, find out if they agree with my view of the event, get their contact details, put them on the form and return it to the "Police helpdesk" within 48 hours of the incident.

Ah, the joys of modern policing.

  • Things I've noticed from my daily commute:

90% of people who ride bikes (I deliberately do not use the term cyclist) do so on the pavement

Of the those who ride on the road the majority have no regard whatsoever for the Highway Code and other road/pavement users and seem particularly unable to distinguish a red light from a green one

Those with the least regard for Highway Code and other road users demand the greatest respect from others and are most likely to shout abuse and gesticulate at anybody who, whilst obeying the laws of the land, happens to impede their way

    So...
Did over 70% of the guys (over 15) I saw on bikes last night and 1 of the 2 girls have failing eyesite or did you all just decide to be utter twunts en masse.
Red lights. Stop. Please. What's almost more depressing are the fools who go halfway and then go I might as well just carry on. For F*cks Sake. Get a grip and realise that you are ruining the reputation of all cyclists by breaking the law repeatedly in such a manner.

Daft tart this morning tried passing me and a mate cycling towards this junction

She ended up straddled across the hatched area, and somehow it was our fault.

I can guarantee she's been slagging off cyclists getting in her way when she's fairly trying to get past them.... rule 162 and 163 dear - go read them.

It's on camera, so I'll see how clear it looks when I get home.

Here it is - really makes it obvious how bad this overtake was

Two nights on the trot I have seen numpty nodders knocking peoples wing mirrors back as they wobble along trying to filter at all costs. After knocking the wing mirror they then cycle off leaving the car driver furious and with no left rear view. If you can't cycle in a straight line, don't filter!

Also, this morning a white man van signals to turn left across the cycle lane - he gives plenty of notice and makes a tentative move to the left. I notice his intention to turn 30 feet before and slow down, nodding to him to turn, a little peloton has slowed behind me. Suddenly some scruffy nob comes tearing down my left and undertakes me, he then nips between the van and the entrance and glares meaningfully at the van man, as if he has left hooked him or something! The van man could not have given more notice or made a more careful turn! Grrrrr!

I swear down that there is more shite cycling on show than driving now the summer has arrived.

obviously my mum is devastated, why is it little shits like this only pick on those that if they caught them couldn't fight back?

I'm seething, feel like going out an finding the nearest scumbag and smashing them up... i really really do

So she knew she had the cash when she left the bank. But got back to the car and it had gone? Or you mean someone physically took the money off her?

Agree with all of the post but this bit. You're only indicating that you're stopping, it's up to the driver to ensure it's safe before he turns. Seen a number of situations when a driver has nodded/flashed someone through without being aware of what else is nearby. Still sounds like the nodder needed to learn a little basic road etiquette.

Well, I was stopped, as were a number of people behind me. Van man was stopped and was checking the cycle lane. The nodder undertook me and decided not to stop. I suppose technically he may not have had to, but he won't last long cycling like that!

Hmmm, I was just thinking of the possibility that she dropped it. Just thought I should put it out there before you go all 'Deathwish' on the 'punks'.

Gutting either way though, possibly worse to think that someone's enjoying her money rather than it just falling out of her pocket. See if you can get CCTV from the bank. there's a chance someone watched her take the money and saw where she put it. If it was stolen.

im just pi$$ed to be honest, its not like it was £20 aswell it was £600!!

i just phoned her an asked about retracing her steps, she said she had already done that and spoken to the bank about the cameras. i can imagine the money is going into a vein as i type...probably

Just remember people do make mistakes. I've seen people walk away form cashpoints with a bundle of £20 notes hanging out of it. And other people think they've put money into a pocket, taken their hand out of the pocket, at which point the money has fallen out. They've then zipped the pocket up, safe in the knowledge that their money is securely tucked away.....until I've tapped them on the shoulder to give (half of) it back to them

Some kind person may of handed it in, I once handed £50 note in that I found when I was 15. Got it back 3 month later as no one claimed it.

Ask at local police station and report as possible theft at very least.

left-hooking Merc on NKR this morning nearly took out a whole peloton. NKR really is bad for muppets in big cars left hooking. On the plus side - beat the inward journey PB by 2 seconds - and I was blown, just got lucky with the lights.
