  • I cant see canada losing this one either at the moment...
  • Phew. Welsh looked shaky there for a while. SA looked pretty good against Samoa. I think England will we well beaten next week judging by their performance against the USA. Course, they'll raise their game but SA showed much more against Samoa than england did against the USA.

After England yesterday and the other home nations today, the Southern hemisphere sides must be rolling on the floor laughing!
  • RSA looked awesome. The AB's will be watching that one with interest no doubt.

The Wales Canada result flattered to deceive didn't it, still a win is a win.

+1. Which team from the Northern Hemisphere impressed?

France, Italy, Scotland, Ireland, England, Wales... Nope.

  • Cripes, thats a poor result for Ireland. Hopefully its all first match nerves for the northern hemisphere teams and next week we'll give a better account of ourselves.

Italy were probably the best you know, and Japan and USA showed some spirit

more than we can say about the old 5 nations sides.....

  • By the way, does anyone else get pissed off with the commentators during an England game? Now don't get me wrong I like to see England win (except against Scotland) but the commentators are arseholes and biast. During the USA game, they were always saying things like "well we know England will win but its just a matter by how many points" Why do they always think England will win everytime? Every team has their bad day. Wish they could have impartial commentators. Will be watching the rest of the games on mute unless I can get radio commentary.

  • I was impressed with will greenwood's commentary in the welsh match. An objective view of the good points in a side irrespective of your own nationality, instead of the one eyed nonsense from Brian Moore.

    I have two questions:
It's noted numerous times above how badly the N hemisphere teams are playing. It makes sense (what pundits have said) that, when they've not played competitive rugby (apart from 2 games) for 4 months that they have neither match-fitness or are used to playing matches. Why, when the World Cup is in the N Hemisphere, have they picked a time that gives advantages to the Southern teams?
Secondly. what's going on with the white bits on the Scotland (&, to a lesser extent, Ireland) team's socks? Those funny white tabs were of three different lengths on Sunday: why? Did they have lots of odd socks to save money? Did the different lengths mean something?
(One of the second rows had a white patch down to his boots & either Mike Blair or his replacement had no more than a wee patch of white at the top of the sock).
OK, I'm profoundly sad for having noticed, but I'm intrigued all the same...

unlike football players they re too busy getting on with the game rather than looking good or how their har is that the let the socks roll down abit or get scrunched up

    sorry - real men don't care :P

  • Wales will win their group, should beat Australia in Cardiff to set up a Wales - England Quarter final, which I'm hopeful that Wales will win. I'd imagine the teams in the semis to be Wales/England, SA, All Blacks and France.

I'd imagine that SA, the ABs or France to win, you can never discount Australia though. The All Blacks should walk it, they are easily the best team in the world, but they can easily lose a Semi or the Final to any of SA, France or Australia, they seem to come unstuck towards the final stages.

James Hook for player of the Tournament.

Wallabies to annihilate Wales. Go you good thang!!!

Nah, Wales v Aus in Cardiff has been a close run thing recently, I was there last year at the 29-29 draw, we had played poor in every match up to that aswell. I'm confident we can put up a good contest at least.

I've gone and laughed my head off!!

I love the Beeb report that points out he has played one, ONE, game at fly-half for Saracens 'A' team and that he has kicked 3 penalties in his rugby union career!!!

I can see South Africa racking up a few on Friday, they'd probably be on for a century if England had picked Day-Glo as well! IM [oh-so] HO!!

And still I will subject myself to the guaranteed agony of watching the entire game!!

At least our dominant pack will keep us in the game
  • We will be coming home next week... I cannot see any way we will beat South Africa.

  • Is anyone getting pre-match tension?

With the ongoing debacle that is the cricket having been turned off in favour of the Tour of Poland, this is my major sporting event of the day.
  • This weekend is set to be a belter in RWC terms. Im looking forward as a "semi-neutral" this evening  and of course tomorrow brings mayhem in cardiff.
  • Apparently Catt is now at 10 but the whole thing is shaky. We'vbe only played one game and we're already scratching around for a fly half, the captain's suspended and we're talking about playing players in untried situations...against the Boks who are looking good. If I didn't support England I'd find it laughable, we've got absolutely no momentum at the moment. Compared to 2003 we look like a scratch team. Still, maybe all the talk from the players is right and they're going to do a number on SA tonight

It's about time you b*ggers had the "Celtic" experience.....
  • SA played a very good game though. I don't actually think Farrel had a bad game. Sackey made the most obvious errors I could see but we were outclassed all over the park. Pretty poor all round really. Robinson looked like he's now played his last game as he said he'd retire after the WC. Shame he couldn't go out on a higher point.
  • Well, Wales were better today than England were against the 'boks yesterday. :D
  • We had one eye out for the Boks. We all know that that will be THE game of the tournament. now I reckon Wales will give them a fright. Mark Jones is due a few and he is scorching, just wait for ignition. Hooky showed again what a class boyo he will become with his barry john weaving., shame he wonmt have the team around him (think giggs).

Well played the aussies - i reckon it will turn out to be one of the hardest and most flattering games this RWC.
