I think there used to be a thread on the old C+ forum, I've looked back but I can't find it! So can we have a new one? (unless someone can resurrect the old one).

Post your bargains here, what is it? how much? where from?

Yesterday I was in Works bookshop and picked up the following:

Tour de France - The complete book.....£6.99 from £20.00, it's the 2007 update but doesn't have anything about this years race obviously.

Complete Bike Book - £5.99 from £19.99, very useful book for a beginner like me, from now on when people are talking about bike parts I may actually have a clue what they mean! :D

I also saw someone mention that they are selling AG2R tops and bib shorts in Decathlon for £15 each at the mo.

Yup, Decathlon's getting rid of AG2R bibs and tops for £15. Chain Reaction Cycles are also having a decent sale -- got a pair of Cannondale arm warmers for £12ish and a Gill base layer at a decent discount. There's lots more there.

Managed to go this afternoon and get the last AG2R jersey in the Stockport store, the only AG bib shorts left were massive.

They did however have a sale on a load of other stuff, and instead managed to get a pair of non team bib shorts for £8 reduced from £24.

Alberto Contador, tour winner, slightly soiled reputation.

Also various DSs, mechanics, etc in the Discovery Channel 'everything must go" disbandment sale – all at desperate prices (thanks to the ever-dwindling number of teams).

Conti GP 3000 tyres (700 x 23c) are only 12 quid each from Settle Cycles at present; recently bought a pair for my new road bike. Drawback - you have to like yellow (choice of pale or dark), no other colours left!

I paid a visit to Decathlon at Lakeside last night, and they still have a load of the AG2R jerseys on sale for £15.

  • Lidl is doing a bit of bike stuff from tomorrow (20th), but not as much as they usually do. Some lights, 'puter, a bike rack that bolts onto the wall, panniers (but not like they did last time). No clothing though, maybe there will be more when it is autumn (although it already feels like sodding autumn!)
  • i bought an edinburgh coop seat wedge pack, was £8 or thereabouts, and seems quite as good as the specialised at £19
  • Hi guys

I was just wondering if anyone could get me a pair of the ag2r bib shorts from decathlon? I have a jersey but no shorts! Please see my ad!

Is that supposed to be funny or merely indicative of what a complete and utter prat you are?

C'mon - nobody got hurt and many in the trade suspected that it was a big building full of empty promises, so no great loss. It might have been different if they provided a decent service.

Hi LazyBoy, thanks for the info. I'm looking to buy these lights , anyone ordered these from USA ?
  • Another bargain to add to the thread - recently bought some Karrimor Stratus winter gloves from Chain Reaction for 9.99 (down from 22.99!!), after my ages-old Mike Dyason ones didn't survive their last encounter with the washing machine! Choice of colour very limited (black only), but wore them for the first time yesterday and no complaints from me despite the cold and misty weather; they're much warmer than they look, the material being quite thin, but I find this gives better "feel" than the thicker style of winter glove in terms of controlling the bike - I have a similar pair of Polaris gloves for 'cross racing in really cold weather.
