hi there Greenbanks. unfortunately i was at work all of sunday, but i have seen your rides advertised and would be interested in joining you on one of your rides. Would i have to become a member of the Audax U.K. first?

They aren't my rides! I'm just a A.N.Other participant. Look at http://www.audax.uk.net/ and specifically the Calendar page.

You don't have to join Audax UK to ride one however it's only œ15 for your first year (and œ10 subsequently). You get a quarterly magazine that's pretty good actually, plus a few other bits. Memebers are then covered by the Audax UK insurance whilst on the rides. If you don't join, and you don't have similar insurance through being a member of British Cycling or the CTC then you have to pay about œ1.50 extra for each event for temporary membership.

A typical 200km ride is œ5 to enter, hardly breaking the bank, and you've got 13h30 to do that distance. That's value for money!

It's not all stupidly long distances, there are many 50km and 100km rides too. Just check the calendar for one near you.

I was there 2191flint. It is a very good ride with a few testing hills around Woburn and the surrounding area. I set off a bit late, 8.00 so the rain stopped after 10 miles or so, so i was nicely dry by the time I arrived at the Three locks pub for a lunch stop.

So many roads, so little time!!!

Yes it certainly was, even though I got drenched and had to dismantle my bike when I got home to drain the water out of the frame! Much more enjoyable than this years L2B, but can't say too much about that as I've been slated for my comments regarding numbers and ability! so least said etc etc[:I]

600km - twice last year. Well one was over that in reality, due to it being a DIY 600km audax planned by mate Dave where 'Dave miles' (10% longer than ordinary miles) where involved!

The DIY 600 took about 36 hours - but it was incredibly hot, (in July) and hilly, going from Northallerton, N. Yorkshire, over Yad Moss and other reasonably large climbs, before we reached Lockerbie and then Abington in Scotland and headed back.

    102 miles.

It was last Wednesday - first day of London to Paris. It was supposed to be 95 miles, but there was a couple of unintentional detours, so got the ton! Best before that was only 75. Then I done 79 Thursday, 75 Friday and 58 Saturday into Paris...

    I rock [xx(]

I also walk differently now [:D]
