A well-timed early stroll to catch the clouds dispersing after a complete pea-souper...

Frosty magnolia buds.
And something that worked better than I expected at Clapham Common.

Last ride of this stay - back to Devon tomorrow - so might as well post some France tat. The photos give no idea of how windy and cold it was. I've almost defrosted now.

Grey day here, I tried the best I could but, meh. I'm sure I preferred the extreme cold with blue skies.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

One from a dark, boggy area of the woods. Unwisely, I still haven’t got any wellies.

Oooooooooooh.

Would also make a really tricky jigsaw puzzle.

Had a very obliging heron in the park. Not at all bothered by people wandering by.

Thanks, I like the busyness too, going against conventional wisdom of what to look for in woodland photography.
I wish I could get that close to a heron or egret,👍

They're semi-tame. There's a pair of herons that roost at the top of the pines and hunt up and down the Wandle (I think it's the same one that caught that trout the other day) and there are a few egrets but they tend to be not quite so tame.

Here he is last May, loping about as the sun was setting. Or it might be the previous generation.

Something prehistoric looking about them in flight.

That's what I always think about cormorants. They haven't even sorted out the floating in water bit terribly well yet.

Yeah, surprising that it took us so long to work out that they are the direct descendants of dinosaurs.
