Maybe because the rubber faced one has another name on twitter Kekius Maximus

...a name-change which the BBC finds newsworthy, apparently.

Is that Elon Big Pants?

Listening to his views on UK/European politics makes about as much sense as the USA hanging on David Goldstone's every word.

it looks like a piece of junk, it's a tesla, and it's electric
magas don't like electric
dems don't like musk, and the magas may be joining them over the h1b hypocrisy and musk's xi-love
neither like junk
add to that, trump is expected to eliminate ev tax breaks and the potential cost impact of tariffs/trade war

I had a look through Musks Twitter timeline. It genuinely reads like a EDL dad/geezer Facebook rant session. Mental.

In a parallel universe he'd have been looting trainers from JD Sports in last year's riots.

I've just looked at his feed for the first time in a long time. I expected it to be unhinged, but it's so much more unhinged than I expected.
The first one I saw about Starmer was particularly unpleasant, and a further one about Jess Phillips possibly even worse.

Do you suppose he thinks the stuff he reads on X is accurate? Like some sort of crowd sourced news service?

That would indicate an extremely poor level of judgement if true.

Twitter now feels like a place for stuff like that, rather than anything very useful. It's a shame.
I dont use it much any more.

I think the irony is that he's been radicalised by the platform he bought - rather than manage it to keep an semblance of balance, either through naively chasing 'interaction', or less naively through wanting to turn it in into a place that would promote his (now) apparent goal of oligarchy, it seems that he's followed the crazier X element right down the conspiracy rabbit holes they've gone down. I cant imagine he's pulling this wild act purely as a detached business choice.

That's not exactly inconsistent with anything else I've seen.

Really struggling to understand why the UK government aren't just ignoring his rantings. He's just a foreign national making ill-informed comments about something he doesn't understand and that is nothing to do with him.

BBC first question to Starmer yesterday at the NHS announcement - "Why are you focusing on waiting lists, not A&E, also, do you have any reaction to Elon Musk?"
Sky: "Are you going to continue using private care in the NHS long term? Also, what's your reaction to what Elon Musk said about Jess Philips?"
ITV: "NHS leaders are worried about capacity... also I'm sorry for asking about Musk but what about Musk?"
GBNews: "Grooming gangs. Elon Musk."
Times Radio: Question about the review of Social care.
Telegraph: Question about the NHS.
Times: Question about Elon Musk.
etc

Musk is about to be a member of Trump's cabinet. Much as I might like to agree, I don't think any government can ignore direct attempts to stir up civil unrest by a member of a foreign government.

This.
He has no more say than any other rich South African businessman. Maybe he should look at home?

He won't be there for long is my prediction.

He isn't about to become a member of the cabinet. He's about to become head of a made up non-governmental wrecking squad.

It will be interesting to watch though. And we may learn something useful for when the the trimming of our own rather large state becomes more pressing.

True - most likely "here's how not to address government inefficiency and just make everything a bit worse".
I am not convinced that watering down all US federal regulations or their enforcement is destined to be benign for the rest of the world.
If they started with efficiency in military procurement and the defence budget then I might be slightly convinced. If they say nothing at all about that, it's a sign they aren't genuine.

Given he's heavily dependent on government contracts I doubt he will have much interest in actual efficiency.

I was wondering today to what extent the US "right to bear arms" extends.
If he was so inclined, it would appear that Musk has the cash to buy some pretty serious weaponry - he could be better armed than many small or not so small countries and, if politically pissed off, he doesn't strike me as the sort of person who I would like to see with "serious weaponry" at his disposal.

Quite possibly, I guess we will see soon enough.

I haven't seen any detailed plans yet but it will be interesting. As mentioned, good to learn from others mistakes and I'm sure he will make a few.

I seem to rememer some strange definition of what is not allowed, I guess from a court case of some sort.
It was something like 'unusual or dangerous' weapons are not protected by the second amendment, I'm pretty sure that all guns are dangerous and that's kind of the point but I guess that means that Muskrat cant just buy a load of intercontinental balistic weapons.
I am almost certain that there is some segment of gun toting USAnia that considers any restriction an infringement of their liberties and that they should be able to sail up the Potomac in a nuclear submarine.

Don't be surprised when AI and crypto are two of the suggestions to improve the government.

the 'originalists' have been using the argument that the constitution must be interpreted according what the meaning was at the time it was drafted
the supreme court has been stuffed with members holding/sympathetic to this viewpoint, it's a basis for denying modern rights/values/protections much hated by the right
modern weapons didn't exist at the time of the second amendment, by the right's own argument it gives no right to hold them, machine guns for instance have long been treated as not being covered
however, their hypocrisy knows no bounds, rightwing judges have been challenging this position, if it gets to the supreme court then who know
might end up with everything from grenades to missiles, and landmines to nerve agents, being permitted, which could get very nasty, it's not even difficult, you can make a war gas with readily available domestic products, chlorine is even easier though not as lethal
though the thought of musk going the way of general midwinter in billion dollar brain is a cheery one

You think? How would anyone know if he has increased efficiency? What would you be comparing it with? Making the state smaller does not necessarily increase efficiency: you could spend less and waste even more.
I'm sure he'll claim to have been successful, though.
