Can make things worse. Needle track can create passage for infection. Nearly lost my kneecap / leg because of it. Don't fuxx about see specialist ASAP if not yesterday, if possible.

Sure . . . but I think the tear was possibility rather than a diagnosis. Either way seek professional advice rather than mine

As I pointed out in my original post I went with physio and while that helped a bit. It didn’t resolve the problem which turned out to be a big tear. So if you get scanned first you are going to know what you are dealing with.
