I think your middle paragraph is the key. But also, for me, does the technique achieve anything that just computer-generated graphics wouldn't? If not, what's the point? If the point is just the technique, with a nice backdrop, then it leaves me cold.

I would have thought the differences from computer generated would be in the light cast within the scene.
I really think the handlebar moustache motifs are off-putting.

@ BT and FA…. We get it. You don’t like it. Thanks for the opinions, expressed multiple times with all the subtle nuances of why and how it fails to float your boats.
Can we move on?

Was hoping to see Monet’s paintings of the Thames on display in London for the first time next week but Courtauld sold out 😔

Kids these days, they just don't appreciate fine art like they used to!

Send them on a Grand Tour for a year or two when they're older, and ask them to bring back some nice things.

Wasn't sure where to put this but I suppose it is art. Not to my taste but I can appreciate how clever it is as it normally looks like a nondescript block of stone with a fish but reveals itself when the sun creates the shadows to give it depth.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

Intrigued how you can look at that and only see the fish. Specsavers?

When the sun is not side on the lumps and bumps are unnoticeable. I guess you'd see them once you know they're there but I'd walked past it a couple of times without noticing.

A bit insensitive, positioning the fish there.

Depends on the artist's intention I suppose. The viewer can see what they want. 😉

Is that in Wales?

How many times have we all walked past our city’s iconic Boy And Ram sculpture like it wasn't there? Standing on a quiet corner of the River Gardens, close to the Council House, this bronze effigy is such a familiar, comforting sight that one can be forgiven for never really ‘noticing’ it.
Have you ever wondered what it’s all about though? Well back in the 60s, revered Leicester-born sculptor Wilfred Edgar Dudeney (1911-1996) was tasked to come up with a figurine that would symbolise Derby transitioning from old to modern.
Nah mate, it's symbolising Derby's transitioning from old to modern.

I think there is symbolism for sure.

It's my favourite ram sculpture in Derby
