I think your middle paragraph is the key. But also, for me, does the technique achieve anything that just computer-generated graphics wouldn't? If not, what's the point? If the point is just the technique, with a nice backdrop, then it leaves me cold.

I would have thought the differences from computer generated would be in the light cast within the scene.
I really think the handlebar moustache motifs are off-putting.

Wasn't sure where to put this but I suppose it is art. Not to my taste but I can appreciate how clever it is as it normally looks like a nondescript block of stone with a fish but reveals itself when the sun creates the shadows to give it depth.

How many times have we all walked past our city’s iconic Boy And Ram sculpture like it wasn't there? Standing on a quiet corner of the River Gardens, close to the Council House, this bronze effigy is such a familiar, comforting sight that one can be forgiven for never really ‘noticing’ it.
Have you ever wondered what it’s all about though? Well back in the 60s, revered Leicester-born sculptor Wilfred Edgar Dudeney (1911-1996) was tasked to come up with a figurine that would symbolise Derby transitioning from old to modern.
