La Vuelta 2024:- Stage 11:Cortizo Technology Campus – Cortizo Technology Campus,166.4km **Spoilers**
Cortizo Technology Campus – Cortizo Technology Campus, 166.4km
Wednesday 28th August.
Start Time: 12-30BST.
Stage 11 ups the stakes on strange stage locations. For this, the 11th stage starts and finishes at the Cortizo Technology Campus. These are the headquarters for a metal manufacturer it seems. Regardless, the stage has hills in abundance. The 166.4 kilometres long race features several laps with a total of four climbs, totaling over 2,700 metres of climbing. The last one rises for 2.9 kilometres at 9.2% before a downhill finale rounds things out. Padrón was also the launch base of the individual time trial on the ultimate day of La Vuelta 2021. The route went to pilgrimage site Santiago de Compostella, where Primoz Roglic celebrated both the stage and the GC win.
Profile.

Final Kilometres.
A 5 kilometres descent leading onto a flat run-in to the line of 3 kilometres.
What to Expect.
This stage seems tailor-made suited for the breakaway. The rider with the sharpest punch could try to go solo on the Puerto Cruxeiras; otherwise, a sprint from a small group is the most likely outcome.
Padrón
Padrón has already hosted 2 La Vuelta stage departures.
8,349 inhabitants.
Padrón has already hosted two La Vuelta stage departures. This Galician locality is a transit point and a habitual starting point for the final stage of The Portuguese Way of St. James. It has also been the starting point for La Vuelta’s final stage on two occasions. Both times, in 1993 and in 2021, the stages were individual time trials that concluded in Santiago de Compostela. In 2024, Padrón will be the star of Stage 11, hosting both the stage departure and the finish-line. Padrón is famous for its little green peppers, pimientos de Padrón. A delicacy all over Spain. Cook them in olive oil until the peppers are dark, charred, even blistered, sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
Pementos de Padrón
(Padrón Peppers, Herbón Peppers, Pemento de Herbón)
Padrón pepper is a Galician pepper originating from the Padrón municipality. The peppers range in color from bright green to yellowish green. Although they are usually mild in flavor, about one in ten of these peppers is spicy as hell, but it's almost impossible to tell them apart until you taste them, which is like playing Russian roulette with peppers.
Padrón peppers are traditionally fried in olive oil and seasoned with coarse sea salt.
Mejillón de Galicia
Mejillón de Galicia are the fresh mussels (lat.Mytilus galloprovincialis), cultivated using rafts in the area of the Galician rías in the provinces of A Coruña and Pontevedra. These mussels have bright orange flesh and are very flavorful.

Fingers crossed that I can post all the remaining stages. I am away and the hotel internet is playing up.
Anyhow, here’s the next breakaway stage of the week.

Pleased for Dunbar after some tough times, he took that really well. O'Connor losing 37" on that stage doesn't bode well for him with what is to come over the next few days.

I caught a bit of the finale. So much for it being a non GC day.
The accumulation of fatigue, due to a week of heat and endless climbing is already having it’s effect.
I can’t help but think that ultimately a diesel is going to win this Vuelta. Mas or Landa possibly?

Yeah there’s a few riders that seemed out of contention after a few stages gradually pulling back time. Roglic still looks favourite but has had a couple of days where he looked like a sustained attack could drop him. Very interesting race.

Bit of brouhaha about Decathlon's blocking during the stage, yellow cards to riders/DS and accusations they caused Carapaz to crash
0 -
Vaughters piled into it on Twitter. O'Connor ended up deleting his account.
It's absolutely impossible to tell what happened from the vid Vaughters posted, other than that Carapaz ended up on the asphalt

I thought the same, there is no way of knowing what caused Carapaz to crash from that video alone

You can see enough to say that the Decathlon rider is alongside Carapaz and moves left to close the gap. And that there's enough contact to get his foot out of the pedal. If it was a sprint he'd be relegated at least.

Looked pretty blatant to me from the overhead. Also trying to come across the second rider breaking through there.

From the overhead where the crucial moment is completely obscured by a tree?
