Jeez the breaking is shit. The biggest issue is that the moves aren’t impressive compared to what people do in traditional events like the gymnastics floor. Glad it’s not included in LA. Too many of the new events rely on judging too and breaking more than most.

Yeah, we’ve been disappointed in the breaking, maybe it’s our age.
Wanted more of a face-off vibe and under lighting would be good, perhaps like is done in skating with spots (but no ice, obvs).
Agree with the comparison / parallel with gymnastics
Breaking should be aggressive, not artistic.

Yes, I was thinking that as soon as any gymnast gets in there, those girls will look very pedestrian.

I see Algeria has taken Gold in the Wife Beating.

Brazil women won the beach volley ball wearing sensible shorts.

Surprised they weren’t DQ’d for failing the dress code.

Normally this would be headline news on the BBC, but maybe because of the storm of controversy, it took a bit of finding. There’s only a justification soap box piece.
Apparently she won with ease, beating the Chinese world champion.
Not that that’s proof of any physiological difference mind. Just a coincidence.

World champion when her opponent who won the other semifinal was disqualified, so I don't think you can draw too many direct conclusions from that.

Well that is a triumph for the Norwegian team who were fined (Pink offered to pay the fine for them) for wearing shorts, a couple of years ago. It is outrageous that the dress code for women was so ‘limited’ compared with that for the men.

Someone should have to pay a fine for that Australian breakdancing kit.

I think the IOC mandated that some should be worn in the women's events. That's why viewing figures are down.

Yeah, one of the Swiss women was wearing leggings on a match I watched the other day (considering it was so warm I actually found it a bit odd). Never understood why people (men) got so hot under the collar about it considering most female track athletes wear similar by choice. Mandating the maximum coverage is plainly absurd though, clothing in sport should be a personal choice based on comfort with rules only being in relation to performance enhancement such as those swimming suits.

Superb run by Cairess in the marathon. Just needed another mile and he’d have been in with a shot at a medal. Just lost a bit of ground somewhere in the final 10km that he couldn’t quite regain.

Perhaps the Chinese girl should have smacked her in the bollocks?

Taekwondo is so boring

I've concluded that its not just the accent and Dame Laura Wonderful isnt the sharpest tool in the box. There, I said it.

I think people beat you to that by about a week from when she first went on as a pundit. I sometimes wonder how she won so much as she doesn’t even know the rules half the time.

Virgin was in a brilliant position half way through the 800m but then wasn’t. Really fast race and very close race, Wanyonyi takes it

First glimpse of my friend in the marathon, she was moving up towards the front with Thackeray and has outlasted quite a few others already. Had a nice message off G on Instagram yesterday as she’s getting married at his pad next weekend

Steve Cram and Paula Radcliffe are a really good commentary team. Know their stuff, engaging to listen to and Paula is a fluent French speaker who seems to know Paris well.
0 -
Yeah, I reckon Cram is one of the best around in any sport.

Listening to them and the Eurosport commentators on the running of the woman’s 1500m, last night.
The words different league spring to mind.

Cram and Radcliffe have stopped mentioning the doping pasts of runners this Olympics. Used to make a big point, and then cheer on Mo which always rankled.

Hassan gets the marathon gold. That’s incredible after getting medals in the 5000m and 10000m

She was not going to be denied there.
Incredible endurance and not just in the fact it was the marathon.

They all have “I run clean” on the bib numbers at diamond league events etc.
What more proof do you need that athletics doesn’t have a drug problem nowadays?

And my friend finishes top Brit and in the first half of the field.

If anyone wants to get their outrage in early, in 2028 the athletics will be in week one, swimming in week 2, and the rowing will be only 1500m.
