Seemingly trivial things that intrigue you

If you live in the sticks and your local doesn't major in selling foreign food, this lot do deliveries of everything you'd need in your pantry to make a good stab of it yourself.
Edit: if anyone finds some decent pink or blue masa harina flour for under a £10er, let me know!

When you get to making your own chilli sauces, I really recommend wearing gloves.
I made a batch of chipotle ketchup, wasn't that hot, but part of it was squeezing the liquid out of a pulp using a muslin. Anyway, 12 hours and many handwashes later the burning on my hands was still bad enough to wake me up in the middle of the night!

Not done an exhaustive search but they seem like they might have what you need.

I have friend who grows his own chillies. He also grows other plants but we won't go into that. 😉 Just a consideration.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

This place in Bristol sells pink, blue and the regular white stuff in the store, the online shop only seems to list the white stuff though.

Would think any decent grocer would order it in if you wanted enough of it.

Depends on their suppliers I'd imagine? It's pretty niche in the UK.

Are you doing your weekly shop in Harrods or living in the 19th Century?

Do you not send your housekeeper out for provisions then? 😆
Sorry, I meant a specialist Mexican grocer. Google maps says there are 17 in Greater London, 1 in Bristol and unfortunately 0 in Cambridge.

There's Mexgrocer in Dunstable, which is closer than London.

There seem to be plenty of places selling it online.

None of us have found Rick an option for under £10 though. Mexgrocer is £11 delivered for red.

Surely buying it while in London is the best bet Rick

You don't understand. Rick doesn't want solutions, he wants empathy and sympathy. He'd be better off on Mumsnet. 😉

That Mextrade link brought up my malware blocker, looks like there may be something dodgy in there. No I hadn't clicked on it.

The use of final for the closing stages of a race. I thought we'd robbed a perfectly good word from the French in Finale. Final just sounds and looks totally wrong to me.

It feels like it was one of those things people who spoke English as a second language used to say in interviews and it gradually worked into first language English speakers. The same with ‘I’m super happy’.

Psst, it's from Italian, actually, which is why the 'e' is sounded.

Everything is "super" recently. Perhaps it should have gone in trivial annoyances.

Having been away from the country what are these riots about? Are those stabbings in Southport rumoured to have been carried out by a Muslim?
The footage of tonight’s riots looked really half hearted.

Dunno, the name of the attacker that was being bandied about by the likes of Katie Hopkins was totally wrong and seems to have been the product of some misinformation being spread by nefarious sources. Not sure there's any info on the religious persuasion of the actual suspect.

I'm not saying the idiots are confused, but I believe the perpetrator was born in Cardiff, but they claimed he was seeking asylum in England.
Born in Cardiff to Rwandan parents and has a foreign sounding name. This seems to be reason enough to 'protest' immigration according to some. The fact that they are being instructed to cover their faces so they can't be identified is surely not an admission they are up to no good for the sake of it.
I firmly believe in the right to protest, but if you are protesting with your face hidden you deserve more than a brick in the bollocks and I wouldn't object to a bit more police brutality.
On the flip side, huge kudos to those rebuilding the walls of the mosque and others in Southport.

I suspect it was seen as a good excuse for a bit of a brawl.

Thugs looking for an excuse to thuggish things. Any excuse will do, logic is not required.

The bit I saw on the BBC news looked like the reporter had asked a kid to pick up a brick and throw it for the camera. The kid had a half brick in his hand, looked at it like he wasn’t quite sure what to do and threw it about a metre at nothing in particular. They’ve smashed up and set fire to a police station now though apparently

There's a "stop the boats" protest in Bristol tonight in "support" of the victims. What a bunch of dickheads.
