Do all women use words differently to men, or just my wife? For example...
"Do you want to...?" translates to "I want to...".
"We will have to..." translates to "You will have to...".
I have grasped the translation (took a few years though) but wonder if it's just me? (Stock answer - It's just me. 🤣)

No, it’s standard. The open questions are tougher to respond to correctly e.g. “what are your plans this weekend?” where you have to work out what job you’ve forgotten to do before going for a run / bike ride or if you’re supposed to offer your free time to go shopping. You can’t turn it on it’s head by asking what they would like to do either as you get “you decide” as a stock answer.

“You decide.” Has backfired on her a few times as I do indeed decide. A good few tense moments between the first and the last but the message got through eventually. 😂
The worst is probably “nothing” when it sure as hell is something, but a good follow up is “something” where she wants me to decide when she doesn’t know what she wants, but it better be something she wants.

Massive influx of cheap Chinese shit on Amazon now. Obviously trying to compete with the lowest common denominator of Temu. For instance, looking for square taper BB yesterday and it's full of cheap brands I've never heard of eg WEbjay; Wabtu; Vgeby; GFDSGRE etc. Bizarre. Obviously not going to buy. Makes ebay seem like Harrods.

When you buy something online and the status of the order remains as "unfulfilled" for a number of days. You start an online chat with the bot and very shortly the order status changes to "on the way". My chin is beginning to be rubbed into a very long point.

School population peaked in 2023 and is now expected to decline due to falling birthrates. The decline should be sufficient to absorb kids from the private sector who are now priced out. I'm intrigued that 2023 was the peak.

At best the Covid-kids would be 3 years old so not even pre school. School population encompasses 5-18 year olds. So why the decline from 2006 to 2019?

I think the idea of not having your other half there all the time during the birth, family members not being able to visit, not being able to drop in on parents and friends for help and support when you have a newborn sounds awful

I don't think Covid is an explanation. I came across this before when the council decided to close a load of nurseries due to a lack of children in the borough. There was no reason given about whether it was a short-term blip or a long term trend. Some people thought it was airbnb related (Rick would say it was boomers hogging houses). This lack of children is about to start hitting the schools which isn't great as it will affect funding.
Anyway, it seems this is far more of a national trend then I had realised.

The birthrate has been steadily dropping since the 60s, I think the current fertility rate is down to less than 1.5 per woman. If it wasn't for net immigration the UK population would have been decreasing. Also it means within the population the balance between older and younger people is changing. So reducing school numbers one of the results.

It's going to be interesting to see how the far right react when the boomers die off, and the economy starts to collapse like a dying sun because of a lack of working age people, and they realise that people do not want to come here because there are less xenophobic places to go.
