PTP 2024
Welcome to the 20th Annual PTP Competition
New forum layout, same old PTP!
It's February already, the muddy fields are behind us, and Opening Weekend is just 3 weeks away.
Calendar changes for 2024: Paris-Tours removed as it has moved to June and clashes with the Tour de Suisse. Olympic RR + ITT races added.
How to Play
Playing along with PTP is extremely simple - you don't have to sign up or join anything other than the Bikeradar forums. If you're already a member here, that means you're already eligible to play.
A few days before each of the chosen races, a PTP thread will be started in the Pro Race forum. That thread will contain a selection of useful links - start lists, race maps, past winners and so on. All you have to do is consider who you think is likely to win and post their name in that thread. It's that simple. If the race in question is a stage-race, you also get to predict the daily stage winners.
Post your pick in the relevant PTP thread before the cut off. If you change your mind then please post as a new post rather than editing your old post.
As you play, your scores will be added up and the overall season rankings will be updated in this thread. The scorer's will do their best to ensure scores are accounted for accurately, but ultimate responsibility lies with each player to make sure their points are correct.

Footnotes
Doping
Points are finalised once the race organisations publishes their results. No adjustments will be made if it later emerges that a rider has failed a drugs test or if a rider has wins retrospectively removed from their palmares.
Prediction Cut-off
Always the contentious one! The cut off is 12pm (noon) UK on the day of the race. This is strict so predictions at 12.01 won't be counted (exceptions made for split-stages, evening prologues etc. as described in each race's thread). No GC selections will be accepted once a stage-race has begun.

@Scorers I just copied last years program. If something doesn’t work, or if anyone else wants to handle some races, then just let me know here.

Thanks for doing the organising. Happy to help as needed.

Works fine for me but can swap races if needed too

Cheers for putting this on

First two races being neutralised due to forum issues?

Seems reasonable...only just could log in now ....what a pain I was going to choose both races correctly as well

With the forum down from Friday to Sunday, most were locked out from PTP. It’s only fair that we neutralise Omloop and KBK and try to start again this coming weekend.

Why should those who don't leave it to the last minute be penalised?
Not our fault the others got stuck behind a crash on the motorway and missed their flights! 😉
0 -
Rules explicitly say we can pick up to 12:00. That opportunity was taken away by technical issues, so it’s not the players’ fault and the PTP is nullified.
We shouldn’t have to plan for these technical issues, especially when they occur 24h (or48h) before the deadline.

Aye, real shame I was prevented from submitting my picks of Tiesj Benoot and Jasper Philipsen 😉

Glad to see it wasnt only me couldnt get on here, this is my first post on this new forum thingy, hope it works.

I was trying to submit my picks on Friday evening and multiple times over the weekend - it was a shame not to have PTP riding on the races. Hopefully it was a one-off problem.

exiger1272 still leads the overall and a looks like it's just a two horse race. But there's still 300 points to play for, starting with the World Championships in 2 weeks, followed by the closing of the season in Emilia and Lombardy.

Congratulations to @exiger1272 , who held their nerve and the lead since June but was pushed hard by a solid pack of chasers waiting for any capitulation or mistake. @m.r.m. and @TheBigBean round out the 2024 podium.
