Seemingly trivial things that annoy you

I haven’t tbh. Seems like a massive faff for something the police wouldn’t want to receive anyway.
To be clear the police still haven’t seen any of the photos yet. They don’t want them.

The actual damage is only a criminal matter if it was intentional I think. The police have to have a threshold test of some sort though.

It's an offence to fail to stop after an accident in which damage is caused.

It looks like they did stop.

Damage seems to have been caused.

So what are you thinking of doing? I'm struggling to imagine a reboot of 'The Equalizer' or 'Man on Fire' starring you instead of Denzel Washington tbh.

Also an offence to fail to report the accident. We can probably add careless driving too!

dunno. I don’t think smashing their car up any more would make a difference. Who knows, it might be stolen - not like the police would be interested in that.
maybe I should pour some diesel into the tank or pay a £5er to get the address linked to the car and fill up the postbox with a load of shitty nappies.
let’s face it, I won’t, I’m just upset a) this has happened and b) people can do this to people like me with impunity.

I suspect the insurance industry is a little more efficient than the police on this one. They certainly don't like wasting money (assuming the other driver is insured).

No witnesses so they cannot put it on the other driver unless the police say so.
Ive already had to pay the excess

I am still not following you on that. It's civil, so balance of probabilities.

That’s what the insurer told me. I can’t confirm it was that car because I wasn’t in the car when it happened.

Mmm. Was it a 12 year old at the call centre?

Scottish people seem to think they're the best craic at international football tournaments.
They need knocked off the perch they think they're on.

To be fair, they seemed to be that - at least until the football actually kicked off 🙂

You need to think bigger. Track down and kill them and their family but obviously kill them last so they get to appreciate the error of their ways. Have you never seen a revenge movie?
Alternatively go through the complaints procedure with your local force and try to get them to do the job they are paid for and if that fails go to the local press.

I've already complained about the form and not being responded to, via another form, but that takes 10 working days.
Honestly, they're terrible.
It's not like they're any better with other people. Cambridge police failed to attend to 80% of anti-social behaviour reports. https://www.cambridgeindependent.co.uk/news/police-fail-to-attend-80-per-cent-of-anti-social-behaviour-r-9310369/
Luckily, for a cycling town they don't investigate road traffic deaths well either. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cambridgeshire-54522575

TBF I have been in enough fights in my life that I can hold my own because I have an idea of actually how to fight, but the perils of being a cycling waif is you're not very good at this sort of stuff, regardless of experience.

Have you tried taking your photos, completed forms, copies of correspondence etc etc down to the desk at the local nick?
Seems that you've got quite a lot of evidence along with a genuine grievance - I think you should at least be able to get a name or number of an officer who has been made aware and who should be accountable for taking the matter forward.
You could ask them if the RTA has been reported and, when they inevitably tell you it hasn't, you can then tell them that the criminal offence of not reporting an RTA has taken place and you have pretty sound evidence as to who has commited said offence.
Don't kow if any of that will help in any way but it has to be worth a shot and would be my next step if I were you.

Definitely best to go and do it in person. I suspect the telephone and web routes are being dealt with by some civilian. If you get nowhere in person you can always ask to see whoever is running the station.

Also a lot harder to ignore someone in person than an email.

So I just did this. Just came back.
The people at the front desk wouldn't let me to speak anyone for either this or a complaint. They stonewalled and told me to submit anything online or call. No-one available because they are understaffed.
Including whoever is running the station.

I think you might have some justification in complaining loudly. P&CC, your MP and social media. If your experience is typical, Cambridge is really poorly served by the police, it would seem, and it needs calling out.

Just tell them you know who was responsible and you're going to go and torch their house. They'll soon send someone to see you for a chat.
0 -
Yeah I've already done that.
I have since told the insurer they must pursue the other car following advice from the police (lol) or I'll file a complaint and the begrudgingly accepted so that is progress - might actually get somewhere.

Which insurance co is this? Just for future avoidance...
