Seemingly trivial things that cheer you up

Realised I didn't have the wee tool for getting the plastic covers off the wheelnuts on our car , went to local breakers who hunted one out and gave it to me for free....

The Simpsons strike again! Amazing predictions of the future.
Who would have thunk it?
Sometimes. Maybe. Possibly.

First time I've been here while the lavender's been at its best. At least when I come back at the end of July I won't have to do my usual dash to try and see the last vestiges.

I have hayfever just looking at that.

We have one just up the hill. Smells amazing on a warm afternoon.

I was overtaken by a lorry, and as it wafted past I almost got high on the strong, heady scent of lavender... the harvest has just started, so the distilleries will be in full swing for the next couple of weeks.

I popped over in da mowtah to pick up some bits from the 'every little helps' s'market. Back to car and there's a black Mini parked next to me, reg plate EC05SEE. Clever.
Anyway, c'mon Spain. #ABE

Parading one's Scottishness never gets tedious.

Quite a nice thought that I'm just popping back to Devon on Sunday for a couple of weeks to earn a big pile of dosh doing something I really enjoy before returning here for the rest of the summer.

It's your last chance. All the other teams you've supported in the Euros have failed to win 😉

After Scotland's performance in the group stages, you'd think he would want to keep quiet about it 😀

Getting yet another 50Gb of data per month thrown into the Reglo Mobile package... it's now up to 200Gb for 9.80€. Even with my extensive use for middle-aged admiratrices (and two laptops doing multiple Windows updates), I'm not making too much of a dent in it, so it's nice to be able to share the allowance with friends who stay via the WiFi hotspot.

When people tweet their ignorance.
The Spanish national anthem has no words.

Consider me ignorant. 😫 What were the crowd singing then?
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
No idea, I'm not watching... I'm ignorant too, but I try not to tweet about it.

He did later concede his error.

Being reassured by the weather presenter on BBC Wales not to worry as there is no science behind St Swithin’s Day.

Will be playing for Will Young as an honorary graduate tomorrow and Damon Albarn on Wednesday. One of the band members is a very clever super-swift arranger, so is trying to got a couple of tunes done in time. Will be rather fun if we pull it off.

Nice, in that jazz club manner. You on the next non-virtual Gorillaz tour?
Saw them in Birmingham NIA. Back in.... jings it was 2010. We're all getting older...

Where with Damon?

Exeter. It was Josh Widdicombe today. Not quite sure why they agree, as they don't get paid anything, just some travelling expenses and a meal, as far as I know, for making what often looks a nerve-racking experience.
Rik Mayall still stands out as one of the best... utterly in his element, and you could tell he loved every moment.

Nice, would love to see it.

This was the rewritten one... his first draft was (apparently) rejected for being just too naughty.

(I mean the Damon one.)

It'll be interesting to see what it's like... it'll be livestreamed & archived, so you'll be able to see it. It might be great, average, or terrible. Great ones are actually quite rare: they need to be pitch-perfect (just enough about themselves but not boasting, and quirky and useful ideas about 'what next' or similar). And well delivered, not just dull script-reading.

Will Young gave a good speech, mostly focusing on mental health - the first bit of his few minutes was an amusing ad lib about his student days at Exeter, but then he went to a script about mental health, and delivered it well. A very important subject for students to able to address, and what he said was both apt and heartfelt. Came over as a genuinely nice person.
The first one of the day was some military general or other, who was basically chucked out of Exeter University at the end of his first year. In turns extremely amusing, and very engaging in the advice he gave.
Am now working on getting a whole-band photo op with Damon Albarn tomorrow. Depends on a few things... but worth a shot.

Woo hoo.

"So, Mr Albarn, I'm told by my young friends that you're a member of quite a famous popular music combo... is that correct?"

"Mmm, I'm not sure, my mind's a bit of a blur."
