US Politics / Biden thread

Oh look, Biden doing what we all knew he would do.
The Trump crimes stuff is pretty weak now that the senate has given president's carte blanche.
It's best for your mental health if you come to terms with another Trump victory. That's the reality. To think so otherwise is to bury your head in the sand

Is it that weak? It’s hard to justify the hush money as being part of his duty or whatever the caveat is they put in.

Yeah as president the senate basically says you can cancel any investigations.
He will be president. He will quash all the investigations, and be emboldened to do more bad shit.

I don't think there's an official mechanism for replacing him and many are reluctant to criticise him in public because short term - while Biden is leader - it damages the Democrats. Plus if course it's not clear who replaces him as Harris isn't that popular - though I believe polls suggest she'd have more support than Biden.
It really does need more people to come out and say it - and probably those funding him to withdraw their money.

He's already been convicted though.

I'm assuming there's no realistic way Trump can get the two term limit removed as that would require a change to the Constitution (plus he's so old himself it wouldn't be worthwhile). t might just be a case of sucking it up and enduring another 4 years knowing he is then done. The problem is whether that then leads to the next Republican candidate being created in his image.

Can you take all this Biden's a criminal talk to the Zelenskyy thread.
This is the Putin thread!

My main concern is that Biden is so bad that Trump wins everything (legislative, executive and judicial) and has total control. Can anyone see him being anything but a dictator in those circumstances?
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

I'm convinced Biden will step down before the election.

I agree but unless it happens soon - it's only 5 weeks or so until their convention - I guess it gets even more complicated.

Jeeez.
I can't delete the top tweet, I posted it without reading the crass words.

It’s weird that he didn’t do something heroic like he said he would have with that school shooting.

The only heroic thing would be to ban guns. I'm so glad blighty hasn't gone down that route where guns are so ingrained now in their culture, crazy.

The Telegraph definitely wants him to win. "Trump shot" is the screaming headline.

What heroic thing has he done? He ducked and ran away while surrounded. Sensible options.
Other take is that he offends some people enough to want to kill him.

As far as there is scope to react impressively his reaction is reasonably impressive.

I just heard on the radio that the fbi are trying to establish a motive. Got their top brains on that one I'm sure.

Say what you like about him, but he understands TV

Weird how Starmer could respond when it was after 6pm.

Did anyone even shoot at him or was it just one of his nutjob supporters firing into the air?
