Sure. Bothering to get the body into suitcases implies some level of trying to hide the crime though? Weird.

They have pretty good images of the suspect

Sanctions for deaths caused when "drunk driving" are generally quite tough, as there is a presumption of lack of care, recklessness etc. by driving whilst drunk. When there's no drunk driving involved, proving recklessness is very hard, so prosecutors generally go for dangerous driving, which doesn't have particularly harsh sentences. (All sentences have to be consistent with similar offences, otherwise they might be overturned for being "cruel and unusual" etc.)

I think they'll put a bit more resources into it than if they were looking for a bike thief.

More than zero isn't a high bar. They'll probably get the guy, fumble the evidence, not get it to court in time and the murderer will get off.
Luckily it will probably only go to trial even if they do get the guy in about 2035, which should give the govt enough time to actually free up some space in prison in the unlikely even the murderer is caught.

OK, I'll grant you that putting the body into suitcases is probably a logical way to carry the bits.

My feeling has always been that the effect on a person's employment is given too much weight as part of a punishment, both in lighter sentencing if they lost their job already and in case it might lead them to lose their job.
The legal thresholds for careless and dangerous also are unduly high. The legal test is based not on what driving standards should be, but what they are. Therefore, if overall standards are low. It drags down sentences.
Prison sentences are not the answer, but much more prolonged driving bans obviously are.

From reading through local press it's amazing how often people facing driving bans have sick relatives they need transport to care for.

I'd have thought after the election you might have cheered up a bit but I see we are still glass half empty with something suspicious floating in it.

I'm going to sound like some right wing bastard now but genuinely, what the Tories have done to the police and the whole justice service is right up there with the worst of their behaviour.
There's been a big spike in drug dealing around the streets where I live. Big spike, started about 3 years ago. It just keeps getting worse.
At one point I got so fed up with my daughter asking what they were "giving to each other" I asked around the other parents and they said the same, so I organised a bit of a collective complaint to the police to do something about it.
Absolutely, nothing. Not even an attempt.
It's got to the point where groups of people wait in a queue on a corner and some guy who could not look more like a drug dealer strolls up, hands them over individually and strolls off. Broad daylight, no attempt to hide it.
So I can't even expect the police to turn up to a burglary, like my friend had happen to him, a guy at work got his ear ripped off in a mugging which turned violent last month - police have said they won't investigate because there is no CCTV - they won't investigate any of the blatant drug dealing that happens around where I live.
It's an utter disgrace.

I have no evidence in my own life to suggest the police and the justice system is anything other than useless.
I appreciate that's not necessarily representative.

My assumption is it is gang / drug related and they tend to be a bit more calculated. I think it was intended that the body would be discovered quickly. Whether the person dumping it realised quite how many cameras there were and how clear his image would be is another question but as he didn't seem to be taking any measures to hide his face I don't think he cared.

Have to say it, you're not selling Cambridge as a place to live.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

You do seem to have had a rough experience. To possibly restore some faith, when my wife reported a small group of men leching over the pupils from the local girls school it was taken very seriously. That particular greengrocer has now closed, thank goodness. It's not perfect but from the interaction we've had the local station is doing all they can with what they've got.

Sounds like you've moved to Baltimore and The Wire. Have you checked out where Wallace is?

Nah, remember, in the wire no-one handles the drugs AND the money.
No such need for sophistication here.

Probably pissed off he didn't use biodegradable bags instead of suitcases that will have to go to landfill.

Fair point. Obvs I need to brush up on my technique before a career change. Probably a choice between drugs and onlyfans (for the over-60s)

It's depressing. I know things aren't great in the country at present but I don't recognise this dystopian society Rick seems to live in.

I mentioned before that my wife had some money stolen from her handbag a couple of months ago whilst working. The police investigated and even sent around the SOCO to do some DNA testing on her handbag. It wasn't a huge amount of cash and actually got returned the next day as it had been taken by one of the service users who apparently can't help themselves (his mother brought it back). I don't know anyone who has so many bad experiences in life as Rick, he's like Unlucky Alf off The Fast Show.

"Rick, he's like Unlucky Alf off The Fast Show."
Def not a Kylie.

It does seem a bit out of whack with most people's experiences. The worst we've had is finding a dog shit on the pavement in the village the other week. What's the world coming to?

Like I said it’s not just me. My colleague, who in fairness is a dick, has been badly let down.
The story is horrendous. Left a mates of his. Had his phone out to navigate. Guy accosted him and asked for the phone. He was drunk enough to say no, and 3 other guys came up behind him and kicked the shit out of him, ripping the top third of his ear off. Honestly, he looks a state even now.
Had to walk to the hospital (London) asking for directions as he had no money or phone.
He then had a long wait in a&e before they sowed it back together.
He’s been off with concussion (well, I sent him home because he was obviously still concussed in the office).
Police have said they can’t do anything because there’s no cctv. Miserable.

I hope they didn't make a pig's ear of that!
