I might have over-interpreted the comments in the piece, but it did sound as if he thought of his pre-TBI self as being a different person.

Judging by the shower of shit comment, he's not suited to politics.

Honesty and the Conservatives aren't easy bedfellows, that's for sure.

You can critique the Conservatives honestly without resorting to calling them a shower of shit. I'm sure they must have done something that is worth defending in the past 14 years and if they haven't, don't stand for them!

. . . though his judgement is without question

It's a bit of an easy headline but the whole quote is "“Two weeks out from the Olympics, if we are competing against the Conservative party my teammates and I would be saying they are a shower of shit."
“Why am I still canvassing and delivering leaflets? Because I believe the Conservative way is the best for the country. Freedom to succeed, protection of our national security and personal responsibility.”

Does he not know that's a nostalgic view of conservatism that the party no longer represents?
What about the last 14 years of policy making makes him think they are interested in freedom to succeed, protection of the UK's national security and personal responsibility?

Is that just that rowers can't keep their breakfast down?

It's barely better in context to be honest.
Nice meaningless gumpf about the Conservative way, I can think of a poster he'd get on with!

The Communist Party have just distanced themselves from JK Rowling.

I'm getting to the point that I can't work out fact from satire, so I'm probably not fit to vote.

It is a very strange world where one of the most popular children’s writers of her generation, spawning one of the most successful film and computer game franchises, theme parks, and even forcing national rail to put in and police a tourist picture pose is so hated by so many parts of society.

She thought they had posted something opposing conversion therapy but excluding trans conversion therapy, so tweeted her approval. They then pointed out that this was just a poorly worded sentence and clarified that they opposed all conversion therapy.

Boris Johnson distances himself from himself.

All we need now is for Truss to wade in. Given her closeness to the far right in America, and her stupidity, I imagine she might be a bit conflicted.

He really is so extraordinarily bad at this, bouncing around on his chair, hectoring, telling people what to think. (To be fair to Harry Cole, the format was actually quite good, BTW.)

To be fair it got applause, not quite sure how.

I think Farage must have forgotten Truss completely when saying Boris was the worst PM in history.
0 -
I suspect he didn't as he thinks she might be on the Bannon-Trump-Farage-Putin team.

I’m finding the line that ‘we shouldn’t speak about the gambling allegations as there’s an ongoing investigation’ an interesting take considering the same people were all over the Rayner allegations (presumably as they knew they would lead nowhere and had to make whatever capital they could out of it before there was formal confirmation that it would go no further).

It's such weak leadership.
He's the boss - he can get rid of them without waiting for a commission. It's quite easy.

He doesn't understand the difference between the threshold for misconduct at work and criminal prosecution. This is entirely consistent with how the party conducted itself during covid.

Oh, I'm sure he does, but he hopes the public don't. You can tell from his demeanour that he's got no time for the general public, and treats them with contempt if they have the cheek challenge his worldview.

Exactly my view.
Has he broken the law? If not, all good then.

I'm surprised no one's come along with the argument that gambling companies prey on the vulnerable and therefore deserve this. But presumably it is because in general, conservatives don't think that there's anything wrong with preying on the vulnerable.

Speaking of which, our forum guardian of bringing politicians to account for indiscretions is very quiet on the matter.

He's still trying to get home from Wales, but is taking at least 3 times longer than it would in England and there's no mobile signal, because there is a hill.

I think she should be a bit conflicted over Ukraine as Foreign Secretary she was touting herself as some sort of war goddess wearing a furry hat and driving a tank, or whatever…
