Really pleased for Ganna, as was Milan

Rats. There was me hoping for him gaining 5 minutes back on Pog tomorrow!

But for his first day bomb, Arensman would be sitting one position off the podium, this evening.

Didn’t he lose time on day 2 as well? Can’t work out if he came into the race with some illness or the preparation wasn’t quite right. Just a bit to far back to be a useful joker but then they are all ton far back really.

He did. Looks like the form was there but he hadn't done enough intensity in the week before the race.

Haven’t INEOS/Sky always gone in slightly undercooked? Then aimed to ride into form during the race?

Ineos with 4 in the top 10 that would have been 5 had Sheffield stayed upright. That’s a pretty impressive day out for them.

I think it's 5 in the top 12

They won the opening stage and took the first maglia rosa.

Thomas was told not to mention Navarez at all pre race. He was certainly targeting the first stage. That didn't mean the rest were.
What's going on with Arensman? He's done two fast TTs but has struggled on the climbs. Is he overweight?

He struggled on the climbs on the first two days, since then he's been with the lead group at the finish on every mountain stage. He's clearly done the work to arrive at the race in form, so I think he probably over did the taper coming into the race and didn't have that top end over the opening weekend.

Yeah, he’d have probably been top 5 or 6 without the crash though.

I was aware. I was speaking historically. Figured mentioning Sky may of hinted to that..

They often went in and hammered everyone on the first mountain stage then held on.
