Shame the fielding was a bit shit yesterday really.

Ashwin has pulled out of the 3rd test due to a Family Emergency.

Stellar performance with the bat so far from England and great to see. Match result is a bit up in the air depending how the wicket plays out but that's all part of test cricket.

Hmm...

Duckett got nearly half of the runs. The inconsistency in England’s batting is unbelievable.

Well whatever the style of coaching is England are always going to be capable of a blow up

And the same Media and "Fans" that are in raptures one week are practically calling for heads to roll the next.

What do they want, to go back to being 40 for 3 every single innings?

Boycott back boring people to death would be my guess.

Took me a while to parse that, until I worked out your first word wasn't a verb. Nor your second either.

Drop Bairstow I would. He's been rubbish.

This is just a waste of everyone's time, there's no point playing the rest of this innings.
0 -
It's not even a difficult wicket, England have completely lost their heads in this test from being in an excellent position.

Interesting selections for tomorrow. Bairstow is obviously deemed undroppable at present despite recent performances. Lets hope he can repay the faith shown in him.

4-1 it is then.

bugger

For a tour that promised so much early on it really has fallen apart.

Pretty much as every team playing in India in recent year has. 🤷♂️

I think England should have won at least one more. They gave away very strong positions in at least two of the tests. They need to be much smarter with the batting.

The biggest problem seems to be that they have 1 or 2 players having a very good match (final Test excepted) then a couple of different players have their moment but there’s no consistency
0 -
Yeah, that is kind of where I'm at. Yes winning a tour in India is as hard as nails but that shouldn't excuse not using your heads. First innings of this last test we were 160 odd for 3 before folding to 198ish for 8. That is just not applying themselves properly. Granted in previous years we wouldn't have got near the 160/3 to start with so it is a step forward in many ways but equally frustrating that it is still thrown away.

a 4-1 series loss is better than I expected, to be fair.

Jimmy Anderson retiring after the first Test vs the Windies in July.
I guessing it's then rather than immediately to give him the chance to say goodbye on the field. Rather ambiguous about that.
He deserves it for sure, but I wonder if we we're playing India or Australia if he'd of been given the chance. Seems a little disrespectful to the Windies: "Look we can field a 41yr old just so he can say goodbye, because we're sure we'll beat you even if he breaks his zimmer frame"
0 -
He’d probably play in all the Tests or most of them anyway
0 -
If he does he's telling a few porkies then : "The 41-year-old, England's leading wicket-taker and one of the greatest bowlers of all time, said the first Test against West Indies at Lord's on 10 July will be his last."
0 -
I meant if he wasn’t retiring he would probably have been picked so it’s not really a slight on the West Indies for him to be selected for the Test he is available to play.
0 -
My take is that he's been told he's not getting picked after that first test so his hand has been forced.
0 -
That was my read as well

Do we have someone better?
0 -
That was my thinking. He would probably have retired before now if he was having to compete for his place. Him and Broad were probably the first choice seamers despite their ages.
