Still a high earner though.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

I have just booked a hire bike for Majorca… reasonable 25 Euro a day for a Trek Emonda SL6 Ultegra, which apparently did retail at almost 5 grand a couple of years ago… it weighs a porky 8kg without pedals and I see it as a bit of a step down, but should be good enough as a rental…

Wrong thread to discuss it.

Hmmmmm. High earners moaning about the cost of living. Meh.

Do let the forum know at what level earnings you think you can no longer feel a pair of bike shorts is not worth buying at £195.
I'll go again. Met someone at a salad bar. Casual, takeaway salads. 2 Salads, 1 drink. £27. Ridiculous.

£195 for quality bibs is not worth it to me at less than £125k, £100-110 is. Discretionary if earnings are over £125k.
£27 for two salads and a drink is ridiculous, totally agree. I wouldn't have paid it mind, like the bibs.

Exactly, the reason these prices exist is because enough people will pay the price whether that's because they want something more 'exclusive' or because they are too lazy to look around and go for what is more convenient.

The correct answer is to say "how much?" and to vote with your feet. If you stand there and pay these prices knowing they're ridiculous, that's where the madness lies.

This really. If the price is offensive to you, don't buy it even if you can afford it. This is why I don't buy my work lunches from Prets and the like.

Would I be allowed to buy a pair given I don’t have any earnings😉

Rick if I pretend to be job hunting can you expense us both some PNS kit?

Popular at £27 for two salads and a drink? World has well and truly went nuts. Count me out.
Your OP suggests that you know it is nuts too.

It helps reading this thread with the voice of Victor Meldrew in your head.

True. It is the notion that it is popular at those prices that baffles me.

Fair. If it's helpful think of it as just a tenth of the price of some bib shorts. It will seem like a bargain!

A salad last 10 minutes though. I've got 10 year old bibs that are perfectly comfortable.

I’m surprised ordering a salad doesn’t automatically move a potential employee to a non-potential employee and for them to pay for their own meal.
The world of finance has obviously changed from Gordon Gecko’s days if people are even expecting lunch.

I find that a more whiney, nasally tone often suits.

went to the Uni canteen, they now have some healthy options, so I bought chicken with some salads… £6.50, which seems reasonable, but portion size was maybe 300kcal… not impressed

I tend to judge cycling food value on weight & water content, so salads always come out low - tend to be light and most of that weight is water.
