I think the suggestion from the tweets is that they are dropping out, but transferring to a care visa rather than graduating or leaving as the student visa is no longer valid.
That would seem to be a very inefficient way of getting care staff.

And again, so what? That doesn't change the criteria for citizenship.
Being outraged that new citizens have (almost) the same rights as those who were born and raised here is just stupid. That's literally what citizenship is.

This guys tutor believed he was being funded at University by state money and was connected to some high ranking official. So once he dropped out he probably wouldn’t want to go back to face the wrath. So he may have claimed asylum.
I also had a another patient on my case load who turned out to be a failed asylum seeker and had stopped contact with immigration services. Then at some point had resurfaced and I don’t know managed to claim benefits such as PIP and housing benefit. He was admitted to hospital and the immigration service was connected but they weren’t interested.

It's ridiculous to see headlines on news pages next to each other where one article is talking about tax cuts and the one below it says councils need £4bn to stave off bankruptcy.

Pretty sure I remember being required to prove my eligibility for treatment (show passport) when I had to visit a consultant. Of course if people don't carry out the checks they are supposed to then people can access things they aren't eligible for.
I somehow doubt 'my dad will be really angry with me for dropping out' is sufficient grounds for a successful asylum application.

The justification for the tax cuts is that public spending will be magically reduced below a level that is generally agreed as the minimum to keep the wheels from completely falling off, at a future point when the current government are extremely unlikely to be in power. Leaving a snarky note to say there's no money left is but a pale imitation of this deliberate sabotage.

I think there's a surprisingly large amount of people that don't connect the two. They'll bleat and moan about tax rates and the state of the roads / NHS etc. in the samer sentence. I suspect they've simply bought into the whole thing that 'others' are the source of all the bad stuff. The idea that you can't have low taxes and high levels of public services simply doesn't register.

What was homophobic? Me saying men should gtf out of women’s breastfeeding spaces in hospital? And what’s sexist about this? She’s as qualified as any of us to comment and she’s been very public recently about how much she enjoys wearing tight dresses and swinging.

I have a degree in history and everyone was commenting how weak I am. Like I said, she’s as qualified as any of us here and she is literally in the press discussing how she likes to dress because she’s had a sexual awakening in her 60s.
And I am all for being polite for trans people but when it comes to the biological mechanics of reproduction they need to understand the limitations of their own biology and understand respect works both ways.
Bluntly, if you don’t have working breasts that have actual breast milk because you have been pregnant and have given birth, the breastfeeding room is not for you.

My work life was probably at its best during their time in charge from 1997 even though I was voting for the opposition. Take Iraq out of the equation and they did a pretty good job. It's probably a bit much to hark back nearly 50 years to their previous stint.
