I think it's possible to enjoy reading a load of semi-fantastical reactionary bollox without actually wanting it to happen in the real world.

I read the Telegraph after all.
Though I probably ought to admit that I read it for the unintentional comedy, and don't pay for it.

Sure. But now we've made the decision and left, we should respect that decision and get on with things rather than sitting around whining. I've said that on quite a few occasions.
Anyway, I guess you've lots of time on your hands to look through 2,000 pages of Brexit thread, now that you're a member of the retired Boomer/'first against the wall when Rick becomes El Presidente' club 🙂

Took all of 3 minutes. I also too busy to spend as much time on here as El Presidenté. 😉
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.1 -
It won’t be so much “against the wall” as much as collective political choices to chronically underfund old age care while you’re in it 😜

The Carl Jackson text is disgusting and I have no problem with him calling that out. I'm less sure of attributing some blame on Clark via a friendship from presumably at least 10 years ago.

Fair enough. I see you didn't disagree with what I said above 🙂

Does look like Jones waited 18 years or so to go public with that. Agree, trying to have a pop at someone based on what their friend said (no matter how unacceptable) is weak.
Would be interesting to see the full exchange.

I think we can both make the most of it while whining about the stupidity of the decision and pointing fingers at those responsible.

I'll make the most of it...in fact already have to some degree, as project managing Brexit was a big career boost for me at work 🙂

You might end up like my great uncle who played a vaguely important part in the nationalisation of British Gas (getting an MBE for his contribution) only to live long enough to see it all undone.

That's probably what my GU thought, having done such a splendid job.

Brexit might not be undone but those knots wouldn’t keep your shoe laces tied.

surely axing £20bn a year of housing benefit would have a more immediate impact on rent levels

There was an item on the Welsh news yesterday about house prices yesterday with prices having reduced by up to 10% over the past 12 months in places. At the end of the item they said things are expected to improve this year with prices getting back close to their previous levels. It really needs a change of mindset that house price increases and good and house price falls are bad. Obviously massive drops putting lots of people into negative equity aren't great but people viewing their home as an asset and that its value increasing massively year on year is a good thing is a big part of the problem.

How can £20bn transfer to private landlords be anything other than inflationary on rent levels

As ever it’s age then education, just like I have been saying:
and lastly, **class doesn’t matter anymore**

IMO class has very little to do with income. Class and attitudes to it are very much a social problem in this country.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

Would like to see the class based one from 1997 to compare.
Intrigued why RC feels the need to say I told you so to people who haven't disagreed with something previously.

I think one prominent Tory supporter has effectively suggested that their party is the one for "successful" people.
But yes, in general no one seems to be arguing that the Tories have much support among any groups aside from pensioners.

Because when I then make the leap as to why this fundamental change to the political landscape and how that frames the where the disagreements come from people just accuse me of hating old people.
