*Engage old man mode* The world is going to hell in a handcart, and as fast as possible.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
You have to engage old man mode? I struggle to disengage it

I have good days, and I have bad days. Today was a good day till I came on here, grumpy now.
Lesson learned. 😉

I'm of the age where it is my default setting.

And another thing.... the sheer level of stupidity shown by people in group posts on things like Facebook. I've found recently it has reached new lows (highs?) almost like 75% or the world's population has been inhaling Mercury vapour and killed off the remaining brain cells they shared. Morons. Bah!

My favourite is people asking in Facebook groups what time a restaurant opens. Eh, you have Google, they have webpages, and telephones still work AFAIK. Muppets.

Buying plane tickets is always annoying.
Why a journey that goes A-B-C is cheaper than A-B. I know why airlines think it should be (they are adding a premium for a direct flight), but if they sell lots of A-B-C tickets, it prevents them from selling A-B ones, so they make less profit.
Also, why is it cheaper to buy return tickets A-B and B-C separately than it is to ticket them together and thus save the airline the hassle of baggage delivery and multiple check-ins.

Pay a premium for laziness. The flight industry’s ability to hammer the price transparency gains via aggregators is quite remarkable.

The problem is that Europe is now dominated by companies that price only A-B as a one way trip, so the implication is that messy around trying to be super clever is less profitable.

Doesn't feel great for the climate impact of flying either if people are doing additional flight miles.

Same with trains. Singles from Norbiton to Gatwick are cheaper than a return. Single from Norbiton to Clapham Junction then another from CJ to Gatwick would be cheaper still. So buying 4 tickets is cheaper than buying 1.
At least with a flight there is some sense in flying people from small airports to a major hub, then putting them all on a bigger plane, rather than flying lots of smaller planes direct.

Those part baked bread things that come in a pack of two and the packet has perforations to split it but only one half has the cooking instructions.
And why do I always use the instruction half first?

Here's something that's trivially annoying me:
How does one start a new discussion thread?
Wilier Izoard XP0 -
New discussion button near the top of any thread on the right hand side on my PC. On my phone there is an annoying + sign that's always in the way wherever you are on the screen. As it's inconsistent across those two devices who knows where it could be hiding for you.

That's what I would expect but it's just not there . . .

This is the top of this page as seen on my PC

Click on Cake Stop, then look in the top right.

This is what I get when I do that:

How about the round blue cross bottom right?

It's that blue plus at the bottom right

Ah brilliant! Thank you SS and Pangolin!

@veronese68 mentioned the blue cross upthread. I didn’t know what it was for, so tried it.😊

It's in the way when I write a post so I've clicked it a few times rather than the 'post comment' button. Found out what it was for through incompetence, happy to share said incompetence 😄

I know it's been done before but cookie pop ups. Some get a nice simple 'reject all' but then there's the ones where you have to deselect all the 'legitimate interest' (none of them have a legitimate interest as far as I'm concerned), others where the only option seems to be 'accept all' even if you have deselected the buttons and on a few sites the option to 'reject all' slides off the bottom the screen (you can drag it back up but as soon as you let go it drops again before you can hit it) or gets obscured by the cookie warning pop up itself. I assume most of these are deliberate to force you to accept all which doesn't really seem in keeping with the legislation that says you have to have an option to opt out.

Not forgetting the ones that tell you to go to your browser settings and delete the cookies. I just leave the website if I get that.

My general impression is that US ones are the worst - lots obviously designed to make you give up and press the 'accept all' button if you want to access the website. I have a suspicion that EU regs might outlaw that sort of thing... seems to be the case from this...

Daytime tv. Young man complaining his insurance has got so expensive he’s had to bin off his car. Fair enough.
only his complaint is his commute is 10 mins by car but now he has to cycle 25 minutes.

Alan Sugar. Made his money in the 80s and still thinks business should be run like it was back then.

I’m setting up a cross country course today so decided to treat the people helping to bacon rolls. Used the Greggs click and collect, selected a slot, turned up on time got told “sorry we’ve been really busy”. Been stood here 15 minutes whilst they serve those coming in and ordering plus all the Uber Eats delivery drivers. Why bother with click and collect if it would have been quicker to just turn up and order? I only used it to make life easier for them!
