Personally I'd like to see Nieve given a run at the GC, he's not ridden for himself (beyond stages) since pre-Sky and seems very consistent in the mountains. No idea what his TT would be like now but it can't be worse than some of the other "purely climbers".

Marca are reporting King Kenny Ellissonde has been dropped from the Ineos squad to be replaced by David de la Cruz.

Poor Kenny, he's had a rough old time of it at Ineos.

Carapaz might be out after a crash last week. Movistar still haven't decided.

(Crashing before a GT. It's almost as though he's already joined Ineos)

Elissonde was only reserve initially. De la Cruz was picked and for some reason had to withdraw. Whatever the problem was it must have gone away (maybe a family illness that wasn't as bad as initially feared)

At least Movistar have one less 'leader' they have to pretend to ride for.
It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.

Mexican standoff. Completely different dynamic to a duel where the first to shoot usually wins.

Hey Clinger - I mean Ridgerider - if this GT works out as well as the last, with a podium and all, I think that’ll mean you get an honourable discharge from the forum.

According to latest reports Movistar were unaware that Carapaz was taking part in the criterium in Etten Leur. They thought he was training in Pamplona as he usually does and he should have trained in Pamplona until Wednesday before joining up with the team.Insiders say they were ´not amused´ when they found out he was in the Netherlands and had fallen injuring himself. Despite the obvious injuries to Carapaz , Movistar tried everything to get Carapaz to ride the Vuelta until it was pointed out that his injuries were too severe. Iwonder if Movistar will take any action against Carapaz??

    I'm going to pick Quintana.
Make or break for his career as a team leader. If not this race then it must be soon.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

How does a pro race without his team knowing? Can he just turn up and ride or does he have to enter?

I have some vague recollection that Quintana tends to do better in the second of two GTs back-to-back.

    A broken clock and that.
