Giro Stage 4 - Catanzaro to Praia-a-Mare *spoiler*
Italy after the long transfer. Will all/ some of the sprinters make it over the final climb to compete for the win?
This is the important climb which tops out with just 8km to go -
A series of tight bends after the fast descent will make it difficult for sprint teams to chase down any lead group, but after that it looks like a straight 2.5km run along the seafront to the finish.

Early break - Mohoric, Brändle, Boem and Rosskopf. Team Nippo are not too happy to have missed it though, so it looks like these 4 will get caught. 50km covered in the first hour. Peloton riding along the Calabrian coast -

Current 18mph dead easterly - which would have been a full tail wind to the coast0 -
Exciting finish today I think.
Love that Rob Hatch just started to translate Visconti's English answer into English!0 -
Very interesting finish I think.
Probably be one of those scenarios where 15 or so riders kick off on the climb, get a gap but then mess about wanting someone else to do the work.0 -
Reading the inner ring preview of today's stage at work today...i think this stage is a little tougher than maybe some will be expecting0

PTP Picks for today look like this:
Kittel - 38%
Demare - 16%
Colbrelli - 7%
Viviani - 7%
Nizzolo - 7%
Trentin - 4%
Wellens - 4%
Ewan - 4%
Also one off picks for Bak, Battaglin, Cancellara, Jungels, Moser, and Sbaragli.0 -
Nizzolo getting a very long dose of magic spanner and Pelucchi showing once again, that he can't climb, even at pedestrian pace."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0

After Diamante comes the cat3 San Pietro. The top of the climb comes with 50km to go. Leaders have 30" on the main field.0

Astana pushing it now0

No commentary on eurosport or has my account been upgraded?0

Here's a working English stream from Eurosport 15K to go, Kittel out the back, probably a reduced bunch sprint for the end.

I'm assuming that, like me, no one really looked at the profile today...We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

That stream screws my browser0 -
If Landa looses time here he really has no chance to win this race I think.0

Well the Kittel pick % is well down on the last two stages...0 -
Landa lucky there, if Astana had started drilling it he could have struggled to get back on.0

that ramp has blown the race apart0

Yeah, I'm working whilst flicking between watching and listening to this, I misheard how far back Landa was, and for a second thought he was in the Kittel group.
Valverde maybe for this stage and a pink Jersey.0 -
With the bonus seconds on offer many riders from the Nibs group will fancy being in the Maglia Rosa tonight.0
-
Sky should have taken big Kiryienka to help Landa on the flat0
