So has he got a penalty?
The jury are still mulling it over. I hope there's no penalty, for the sake of the race, but seriously WTF were they thinking?

Context is important.
Week 1 on a meaningless stage within the bunch. No biggie.
Stage 19 with a three second lead at play. Not so meaningless. Plus of course the Nibali fiasco.Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.0 -
I'm sure there's a good reason to ban it (mainly safety) but tbh, if it wasn't for that, it would be allowed.
Let's face it, what they did was hardly dangerous.
I mean, if i was Giant, a team not predisposed to win any GT, let alone potentially the first Dutch rider in 25 years to win a GT, I can see why I'd do it, but they'll pay for it afterwards.0 -
@Peter_SagFan: Aru still has to fear punishment for the hand sling, tomorrow at 11:00 new meeting of the jury #Vuelta2015 #LV2015 http://t.co/nvz814aQRH0

anyone got a link to the.... whatever you want to call it??
As my lovely wife has just pointed out, they're professionals, they know the rules so if its a 10 second penalty then they have to award it. No if's, no but's, no sympathy, award the penalty.'Performance analysis and Froome not being clean was a media driven story. I haven’t heard one guy in the peloton say a negative thing about Froome, and I haven’t heard a single person in the peloton suggest Froome isn’t clean.' TSP0 -

Thanks mate. So what can the judges be discussing? Astana have had a shocking season.'Performance analysis and Froome not being clean was a media driven story. I haven’t heard one guy in the peloton say a negative thing about Froome, and I haven’t heard a single person in the peloton suggest Froome isn’t clean.' TSP0

We know that and so are sticky bottles but Nibali has still got his feet up on the sofa when he should be challenging for this race. As someone else said, context is everything.0 -

Let's be fair, that's naff-all really.
But by far the best thing about that clip is Sean Kelly speaking in slow motion. It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.0 -

Good job too.
Now Aru unleash your young anger on the macadam and put a minute into him today.Contador is the Greatest0 -
So now we know. Handslings are fine when the race leader is dropping you.Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.0

Don't moan.
Hand slings happen all the time.
I think Robbie McEwen was the last rider to get penalised and that was a huge sling inside the final km.
This was half hearted and feeble.
About as much use as arguing with FF."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -

RTVE the Spanish hosts earlier showed blown up footage from the helicopter.
There wasn't even an actual hand sling.
It was a fumbling hand on the shoulder, then on the back, which was more of a pat, than a push.
Absolutely zero momentum to it.
I've never seen such a non action penalised and I've seen the same hundreds of times.
Do we really want to start penalising riders because of who they are and where they are positioned on GC, rather than applying the rules consistently?"Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -
No, if that's what happened fine. I assumed there was a hand sling since such a big thing has been made of it. Only footage I saw was largely obscured by a tree.
But I would like this consistency you seem to mention. Sticky bottle and using the cars to get back seem to me to be very open to interpretation, frequently hear commentary not agreeing on that, so I don't think I'm alone.0 -
So has he got a penalty?
Doesn't look like it, the deficit is still 6s according to the official app.0 -
I've never seen such a non action penalised and I've seen the same hundreds of times.
But he's not been penalised! I'm not sure we should critique the jury for having a look and deciding there was no wrong doing.0 -

No one is criticising the jury for having a look.
Not sure how you drew that conclusion."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -
