cassette too small for Reynolds Type B wheels

Do these wheels need a spacer between the inside of the wheel and the cassette or smallest cog and locking ring? There seems to be too large a gap between the locking ring and smallest cog with no spacer. When I put a spacer on the inside of the hub then the locking ring does not have enough hub to latch onto. I have just tried to use them again (bought with my PX but never used) so maybe I lost a thin spacer or something? The 10 speed cassette has just come off a Durace hub with no problems. The one thing I did notice is that they seem to slip right up against the inside of the wheel/hub connection - my other wheels seem to have a little gap before the cassette starts.
I can put other (9 speed cassettes on this wheel with no problems).

10spd need a spacer on first. As it sounds like it is not a 10spd specific cassette."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
